David Schwartz has spotted an unexplained improvement in the performance of his XRP Ledger infrastructure.
His XRPL hub has climbed back above 500 connected peers after becoming noticeably more stable over the past two weeks.
The Ripple executive says he has been seeing fewer peer disconnects, but he admits that he does not yet know what is behind the improvement.
“Over the past two weeks my hub has mysteriously gotten more stable and reliable with fewer peer disconnects. I’m not sure of the cause, but I’ll take it. I’m back over 500 peers!” Schwartz wrote on X.
The accompanying chart shows that the hub had 501 active peers at the latest reading, very close to its two-week high of 509.
What Schwartz actually means
Schwartz is talking specifically about his own XRPL hub server.
A hub server maintains connections with numerous other servers participating in the XRP Ledger network. These peer-to-peer connections allow servers to exchange ledger data, transactions, and other network information.
A server that repeatedly loses peers has to re-establish those connections. Fewer disconnects therefore generally mean that its connections are remaining alive for longer, giving the operator a more stable and predictable networking environment.
That is what Schwartz appears to mean when he says his hub has become “more stable and reliable.”
The two-week chart covering Sept. 3 through Sept. 17 makes the improvement particularly visible.
That does not by itself explain why the connections are also disconnecting less frequently, however. Schwartz did not offer a theory about what changed.
The unexplained improvement naturally prompted speculation among Schwartz’s followers.
One user asked whether he had a theory for the sudden change, while another wondered whether an AI model was being used on the hub.
Others responded more playfully. One commenter joked that some kind of “Stablegeist” might be responsible, while another demanded to know which XRP community “Riddler” was currently on duty.
For now, however, Schwartz himself appears just as uncertain about the cause.
