Bitcoin price continues to gain momentum with FOMO at its strongest since late 2024. Rising ETF flows, Strategy’s purchase of Bitcoin, and a change in derivatives activity are contributing factors to the current market move.
Bitcoin Price Rally Meets Rising FOMO
The current Bitcoin price surge coincides with a report by crypto analytics firm Santiment, which states that the FOMO in relation to Bitcoin is at levels not seen since late December 2024. In December 2024, Bitcoin was nearing its all-time high of just over $100,000 before heading towards $126,000 in October 2025.

Recent data from Santiment indicates an upsurge in social excitement towards Bitcoin. The presence of FOMO indicates that many investors have been paying close attention to the Bitcoin price since its rise.
This is important for the simple reason that FOMO can be followed by greater participation in the market, but it can also result in a sharp reversal due to high expectations.
However, the total trading volume for Bitcoin has increased by approximately 39% during the recent period, which indicates that the new trend comes with substantial market activity. At the same time, the open interest increased by 9.38% within 24 hours to $61.33 billion.
The rising open interest indicates that more money is being invested in Bitcoin derivatives. On the one hand, the higher open interest can help support the Bitcoin price in the event of building leveraged positions with the help of the trend.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading at $85,590, up 5.33% over the past 24 hours, with a 24-hour trading volume of $170.91 billion and a market capitalization of approximately $1.72 trillion.

Strategy Adds 950 Bitcoin
One other major development in the Bitcoin market is corporate accumulation.
Strategy recently acquired 950 BTC worth approximately $75.7 million, at an average cost of approximately $79,670 per Bitcoin. This has brought their total number of bitcoins to approximately 846,000 BTC.

This purchase stands out due to the fact that Strategy has emerged as one of the biggest corporate owners of Bitcoin. The buying continues and offers yet another demand channel, as the price of Bitcoin is still considerably higher than the price at which Strategy purchased it.
Strategy also bought back around $174 million worth of STRC preferred shares.
Bitcoin Derivatives Market Is Changing
Another notable trend has been pointed out by the crypto analyst, Crypto Patel. This is that there is rapid change taking place in the derivatives market of Bitcoin.
The share of options in the crypto native derivatives market of Bitcoin has increased to almost 50%, while earlier they were around 25%.

This becomes significant because options affect the Bitcoin price significantly, especially when there is a lot of leverage. It allows the market to trade at certain prices and levels of volatility, while perpetuals can be leveraged without an expiration date.
The rising importance of options indicates that the derivatives market for Bitcoin has been diversified. Thus, options positions, funding rates, and open interest may become significant factors for understanding future price volatility in the future.
What Happens Next for Bitcoin?
The subsequent phase of the Bitcoin price trend might rely on how persistent the present demand factors prove to be.
The spot Bitcoin ETF flows, the next strategy acquisitions by Strategy, open interest in derivatives, and social sentiment will be monitored by investors. The sustained positive ETF flows and company acquisitions would indicate that the demand persists despite any short-term market enthusiasm.
However, a steep fall in open interest or a shift in FOMO might indicate that the leverage positions are unwinding.
Regarding the market, the question remains as to how much longer the existing Bitcoin price rally will continue to move forward after the initial buying spree. Bitcoin’s move past the $85k level has definitely caught the eyes of investors once again, although with FOMO and a high level of derivatives trading, price volatility should be anticipated.
Further trading sessions will reveal whether this is just the start of yet another round of growth for Bitcoin or a high-volatility stage after a sharp price rise.
