Bitcoin continues to attract user enthusiasm, driven by its increasing market recovery. Today, Adam Back, a world-renowned British cryptographer, made a significant prediction for the flagship cryptocurrency. In the podcast shared on Sunday, Blockstream founder and CEO Adam Back believes BTC will reach $1.5 million per coin within the next four-year cycle. Back is a legendary cypherpunk not known for hyping, so when he speaks, the crypto world takes his revelations seriously.
The CEO’s reflection comes as Bitcoin continues its bull run, trading at $87,290 today. On Sunday, the asset crossed $86,000 despite the CLARITY Act failure and last week’s Fed interest rate hikes. Strong market interest, especially buying pressure in spot and perpetual futures, has been the key catalyst for the ongoing uptrend.

Why BTC will hit $1.5 million: Adam Back
With recent rebounds, the asset is now close to recapturing the crucial $100,000 mark, and could soon reach $500,000 or even climb higher to $1 million per unit within this four-year cycle, according to Back’s prediction.
The prominent computer scientist explained that continued rising institutional capital flows into the digital asset industry could push the flagship cryptocurrency’s value higher. He is convinced many things will push Bitcoin to $500,000 and even $1.5 million by the end of 2030.
These include US spot Bitcoin ETFs, which continue to generate billions in net inflows. These investment vehicles give institutional investors easy access to BTC through brokerage accounts, the Blockstream CEO noted. He said his $1.5 million target is supported by expanding regulatory clarity (despite the CLARITY Act failure), the Bitcoin halving and its fixed-supply effect, and increasing institutional participation.
Bitcoin’s timeline reveals what’s next
With these factors in play, Back believes Bitcoin is on track to reach $1.5 million by the end of 2030. The asset has always followed the 4-year cycle pattern, as shown by new peaks in the fourth quarter of 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025. According to the expert, the asset will likely climb to new highs between 2026 and 2030, based on historical performance.

History shows the asset rises to new peaks before its halving, with the next event in 2028. These dynamics already position Bitcoin to surpass $500,000 by year-end.
The CEO also named rising institutional adoption and supportive crypto-friendly policies as other key drivers that could push BTC to $1 million-$1.5 million by the end of 2030.
