Why Is Cardano Price Falling On Its 9th Anniversary?

Cardano sent an announcement on X, where it stated that the blockchain had minted its first block nine years ago. The post stated, “Nine years ago today, Cardano minted its first block.” This news is presented as a moment of celebration of the community of people who have been building on the blockchain ever since its creation.

This anniversary creates the basis for context for ADA traders, but right now, all attention is paid to the capacity of the cryptocurrency to remain above its key technical support levels.

Also, the derivatives trading volume has increased in the latest data, which might result in price movement in any direction.

What Is Suggested by the Cardano Price TradingView Chart?

From the TradingView chart, it can be seen that ADA is trading higher than the 50-day moving average, located at $0.2142, and the 200-day moving average, found at $0.2060. It means that ADA remains in the price formation above those averages, despite the last correction.

Besides, there is a certain price level of around $0.2145, near the 50-day moving average, which can be considered an important one for buyers. A steeper fall could bring the $0.1795 support level into focus.

From the positive side, ADA has moved towards the $0.25 price area recently, as the highest daily candle reached $0.2623. A movement above $0.25 could bring this recent high back into focus for traders.

How Are Cardano Price Derivatives Markets Performing?

According to data from CoinGlass, there has been an increase in Cardano open interest towards the latter part of the observed period to about $600 million.

The increase is in conjunction with the recovery in the price of ADA, showing that more positions are being added in the derivatives market as traders respond to the price movement.

There is also a rise in trading volume where the latest bars seem to be approaching the $1 billion mark. This trend shows that the price move is taking place amid increased market participation rather than thin trading volume.

There have been spikes in the liquidation chart from time to time for both long and short positions, showing that leveraged traders have faced periods of forced position closures.

What Insights Can Be Gained from Cardano Price DeFi Activity?

Another view of Cardano’s ecosystem is provided by the DeFiLlama visualization. In the latest part of the observation period, Cardano’s value locked has been trending back toward the mid $60 million mark.

Activity in relation to DEX volume, number of active addresses, and transactions is also shown in the visualization. Several of these metrics have also picked up toward the end of the displayed period, adding another layer to the network activity around the anniversary.

This expands the context of the anniversary story. The Cardano anniversary story is not limited to just the age of the blockchain but extends even to the DeFi activity happening on the network.

What Should Cardano Price Traders Consider Next?

The $0.2145 level is an important one because it is near the 50-day moving average. If this level holds, the recovery structure can remain intact, and if it breaks, then the ADA price will face the support level at around $0.1795.

On the other hand, regaining the $0.25 level can bring back the previous high at $0.2623 into focus for traders. With open interest and trading volume elevated, derivatives activity could remain an important factor in the upcoming price move of ADA.

It means that the ninth anniversary of the Cardano network has arrived at an important time. While the network milestone provides the basis for the story, price action, derivatives activity, and DeFi metrics provide additional context for traders watching ADA.
