In a recent development, Cardano has welcomed a new native library for Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript. Mesmo, a native shared library, implements Cardano’s core functionality in Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript without requiring a Java Virtual Machine.

In an official blog post, the Cardano Foundation explains the rationale behind Mesmo. Cardano SDKs cover 95% of developer needs, with Mesmo now filling the missing 5%—in Python, Go, Rust, and JavaScript—with no library switch.

Oftentimes, though, developers need to access extra features that sit outside of a certain library, with Mesmo giving them that option. Mesmo works by taking Cardano Client Lib (CCL)—the mature Java SDK—and compiling it with GraalVM Native Image into an ordinary shared library with a plain C ABI.

Cardano node diversity gains traction

As Cardano explores advancements in its native library, alternative node development continues to gain momentum. Dingo, developed by Blink Labs, recently reached a major milestone—validating blocks that have been accepted by the Mainnet network, expanding its accomplishments across Preview, PreProd, Musashi, Prime Testnet, and now Cardano Mainnet.

The Amaru node team achieved its Q3 goal with the release of a robust relay node binary and is now targeting a block-producing pre-release from September 29, followed by a beta approximately four weeks later, and first Mainnet block production in Q4.

In another demonstration of implementation diversity, a full Haskell Cardano node has also been demonstrated running directly in a web browser, following the chain tip and supporting transaction functionality.

As reported, Cardano recently marked its 9th anniversary with the first genesis block created on September 23, 2017. The mainnet launched six days later, on September 29, 2017, introducing ADA and beginning Cardano’s journey as a public blockchain.
