Visa has partnered with Mesh to enable crypto payments across more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide. The October 19 announcement outlines a service that lets consumers spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances directly from supported wallets without obtaining separate payment cards.
The alliance includes Visa’s acceptance network in over 200 countries and territories. The companies have not revealed any launch date as yet or the list of wallets and devices that will be supported.
Payment processing and currency exchange will be managed by Mesh. The merchants will continue to receive payments using the same Visa network infrastructure.
How Will Visa and Mesh Process Crypto Payments?
In the process, participating digital wallets would be linked to Mesh’s payments system, with customers making payments using their current balance of either cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, or fiat via contactless payments and online payments.

Mesh will issue Visa payment credentials in the background. Mesh will take care of payments’ funding and currency conversion for the customers, without any need to withdraw funds into a bank account.
As per the press release on October 19th, payments will be made in the same way as usual and will be processed through merchants’ existing channels, with no need for any new hardware.
The crypto payments deal does not have any need for merchants to accept digital assets directly. Mesh will take care of currency conversion for Visa to process merchants’ payments through the network.
What Will Crypto Wallet Providers Need to Do?
Participants can enable crypto transactions using one Mesh integration. They will not have to create their own card schemes or develop their own payment processing solutions.
The firm itself will act as the program manager and carry out onboarding and know-your-customer procedures for customers. The firm currently supports over 200 companies and links hundreds of crypto wallets and exchanges.
These relationships include Kalshi, Tools for Humanity, Félix Pago, Majority, and KAST. However, Mesh has not yet announced which companies will take part in the launch of the Visa program.
Cryptocurrency holders having balances in several wallets that are supported by the program will be able to use them in purchases via participating applications. Further details have not been revealed.
Why Is Visa Expanding Stablecoin Payments?
This partnership has come as part of the expansion by Visa into cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. As announced on October 1, there were more than 160 stablecoin-based card schemes running on its platform.
Transaction volumes through these schemes had increased by almost 200% from one year ago. Business and corporate cards accounted for about 17% of the stablecoin-based card payment transaction volume so far in fiscal 2026.
This transaction volume is based on existing Visa programs and not on the transactions that will result from the recently announced partnership with Mesh.

Additionally, Visa also conducted a separate settlement of a stablecoin project with Lloyds Banking Group in September. In this seven-day project, Visa settled down payments worth $750,000, where the funds were credited to Visa in less than an hour.
The Lloyds settlement scheme was aimed at institutions’ settlements through blockchain technology, while the Mesh partnership is for consumer-based purchases at merchant sites.
How Large Is the Market for Crypto Payments?
Mesh mentioned Crypto.com research that showed cryptocurrency owners to reach 774 million worldwide by June 2026. Nevertheless, the expenditure of digital assets is still insignificant in comparison to expenditures through regular cards.
From the data provided, cryptocurrency-related card transactions were about $1.5 billion per month in late 2025. In fiscal year 2025, Visa had $14.2 trillion of total payment volume.
In addition, Mesh became a part of Paxos’s Global Dollar Network and launched a consortium of more than 50 industry partners in 2026. Both projects are aimed at the connection of digital asset platforms with payment providers.
The crypto payments program currently does not set dates for the consumer access to the product. It will depend on the participation of particular wallets, supported countries, and companies’ strategies. Neither Visa nor Mesh revealed further information about transaction volume or goals.
