TL;DR:

  • The network processed 8.92 billion successful non-vote transactions during the third quarter of 2026, representing a 104% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.
  • The quarter-over-quarter comparison registered an increase of approximately 24.1% relative to the second quarter of 2026, a period that recorded 7.19 billion operations.
  • The native token SOL traded near $104 on October 19, 2026, remaining in that range despite the reported volume.

A historic record marked Solana network activity by processing 8.92 billion non-vote transactions during Q3 2026, according to information shared this Monday, October 19, by the protocol’s official account.

The figure represents an expansion of more than double compared to the 4.38 billion operations recorded at the end of the fourth quarter of 2025. According to market reports, this calculation covers the 92 days between July and September 2026. The resulting operational average stood at around 97 million daily transactions, equivalent to an approximate average of 1,122 operations per second.

The chart backed by analytics firm Allium placed Q1 2026 performance at 7.54 billion transactions. Subsequently, the second quarter experienced a 4.6% contraction, equivalent to a reduction of 350 million operations, closing at 7.19 billion. Compared to that immediately preceding period, the third quarter added 1.73 billion successful transfers, marking a 24.1% recovery.

Infrastructure records present quantitative discrepancies across analytics platforms. Data from Solana Compass calculated 8.78 billion completed transactions for the same quarterly period. Blockworks analyst Sam Schubert reported that September alone accounted for 3.2 billion successful operations, consolidating the overall figure of 8.92 billion by the end of September.

Solana Compass clarified in its technical documentation that on-chain metrics include automated arbitrage orders and circular transactions. Data from the platform suggests that successful technical execution does not inherently determine the proportion of human users or purely organic volume. Official network documentation also does not break down what percentage of the total corresponds to institutional transfers versus high-frequency algorithms.

Market dynamics and consensus update

Meanwhile, the price of SOL neared $104 around midday on Monday, October 19, showing no immediate bullish correlation with the processed volume.

Quarterly transaction figures and spot market prices correspond to different timeframes. Quantitative evidence indicates that increased operational volume does not causally establish an appreciation in the asset’s market valuation.

The decentralized ecosystem saw specific areas of activity during the quarter. A market report revealed that protocols such as Kamino, Jupiter Lend, and Frankencoin collectively held $51.3 million in assets tied to tokenized stocks, while pools on Uniswap V4, Raydium, and Aerodrome accumulated $77.9 million in multichain terms. However, analyses do not attribute the entirety of the network’s growth solely to this equity-product segment.

On the protocol development front, Solana engineers scheduled the technical implementation of the Alpenglow upgrade for October 21, 2026.

Technical documentation indicates that the Alpenglow upgrade aims to reduce block finality time to a target of 150 milliseconds. The mechanism modifies the consensus algorithm to accelerate distributed confirmation, leaving the execution layer unchanged for end-user interactions.

Validators will retain current transaction signing specifications, while the Rotor architectural proposal, focused on block distribution, remains reserved for future versions without a scheduled date.

The activation of Alpenglow on October 21, 2026, represents the most immediate milestone in the network’s roadmap to assess infrastructure behavior under reduced confirmation latency.
