On October 19, 2026, Revolut announced that its Gibraltar subsidiary, Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited (RGDAL), had received a Distributed Ledger Technology Provider licence from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission. The permission covers transmission and execution of virtual-asset orders, virtual-asset custody and virtual-asset staking services.

Revolut said the approval supports its further international crypto expansion, but has not disclosed which markets RGDAL will serve first or when services will be rolled out.

GFSC authorises Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited

RGDAL is listed on the GFSC’s regulated-entity register as a Gibraltar-incorporated company authorised as a DLT provider under the Financial Services Act 2019. The register says the company was incorporated on June 27, 2024.

Revolut disclosed the new licence in an October 19 announcement. The approval creates a Gibraltar-regulated vehicle for the group’s digital-asset activity, separate from the entities it already uses in the UK and European Economic Area.

The timing and commercial scope of any launch remain open. The company’s statement frames the licence as an expansion measure, but it does not identify customer jurisdictions, products that will become available first, or a timetable for putting the Gibraltar permissions into use.

Permission spans trading orders, custody and staking

According to the GFSC register, RGDAL is permitted to transmit and execute virtual-asset orders, provide virtual-asset custody and provide virtual-asset staking services.

Those three activities sit under one authorised Gibraltar entity, making the permission broader than a narrow crypto-trading authorisation and potentially giving Revolut a regulatory base for a wider combination of services in relevant markets if it elects to deploy them. The register, however, does not establish which assets or staking arrangements would be supported, what fees or customer eligibility rules would apply, or when any product would launch; none of those details can be inferred from the authorisation alone.

Gibraltar licence joins Revolut’s UK and MiCA operating structure

Revolut’s Gibraltar operation will sit alongside, rather than replace, its existing regional crypto structure. According to The Block, crypto operations continue through Revolut Ltd in the UK and Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd across the EEA under the Markets in Crypto-Assets framework, or MiCA. The Block also reported that RGDAL is intended to support international expansion beyond that UK and EEA arrangement.

The announcement concerns authorisation for the named Gibraltar subsidiary RGDAL, rather than consolidation of Revolut’s crypto operations under one regulatory permission; based on the company’s stated structure, the UK and EEA businesses continue through their respective entities. Available disclosures do not specify the countries, customer segment, product lines or rollout timing for the Gibraltar operation, making its immediate commercial effect difficult to assess.

Gibraltar also sees payments-app onboarding resume

Gibraltar’s government separately confirmed the regulatory permission on October 19. In the same government announcement, it said Revolut had fully resumed onboarding Gibraltar residents to its electronic-money and payments app.

Although distinct from the new DLT provider permission, the local onboarding development gives Revolut a broader operational presence for Gibraltar-based customers. The government’s statement did not specify when the newly authorised crypto services would be introduced to those residents.

For now, the clearest outcome is the formal addition of execution, custody and staking permissions to RGDAL’s Gibraltar regulatory status. The next substantive question is where Revolut chooses to use that entity as its international crypto expansion plans develop.
