- US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted a combined net outflow of roughly $163 million across October 13 through October 16, 2026, swinging between a $175.7 million inflow and days of heavy redemptions
- US spot Ethereum ETFs fared worse over the same stretch, losing roughly $234.7 million net, with four straight down days through October 16
- BlackRock’s IBIT and ETHA drove most of the swings in both categories, according to daily flow data from Farside Investors
US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum exchange-traded funds posted a choppy, mostly negative stretch across the final full trading week before the weekend, according to daily flow data compiled by Farside Investors covering October 13 through October 16, 2026. Bitcoin ETFs opened the window with a $175.7 million net inflow on October 13, led by BlackRock’s IBIT and Fidelity’s FBTC, before reversing sharply into a $261.4 million net outflow the very next day, October 14, as those same two funds flipped into heavy redemption mode.
The category stabilized somewhat on October 15, posting a roughly break-even $5.1 million net inflow, before sliding back into outflow territory on October 16 with $82.4 million leaving the funds, again led by IBIT. Added together, the four-day stretch left Bitcoin ETFs down roughly $163 million on net, a relatively modest overall decline that masks just how sharply sentiment swung from one trading day to the next within the window.
Ethereum ETFs had a rougher run. After a modest $24.8 million net inflow on October 13, the category recorded net outflows on every one of the next three trading days: $129.5 million out on October 14, led overwhelmingly by BlackRock’s ETHA; $60.3 million out on October 15, again led by ETHA alongside Grayscale’s ETHE; and $69.7 million out on October 16, with ETHA alone accounting for the entire day’s redemptions. That left spot Ether ETFs down roughly $234.7 million net across the four days, a steeper decline proportionally than Bitcoin funds experienced over the same stretch.
BlackRock’s IBIT and ETHA stood out across both categories as the funds most responsible for driving single-day swings in either direction, consistent with their position as the largest spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs by assets under management. When the two largest funds in a category move heavily in the same direction on a given day, they tend to dominate that day’s aggregate net flow figure regardless of what smaller issuers are doing, which is part of why the category-wide numbers swung as sharply as they did across the four-day window.
Farside’s flow tables, which aggregate net creation and redemption activity across all major US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF issuers into single daily figures for each asset, had not yet posted data for October 17 through October 19 at the time of this report, since October 17 and 18 fell on a weekend and October 19’s figures had not yet been compiled. The Bitcoin ETF flow table, published by Farside Investors, does not attribute a specific catalyst to any single day’s swing, leaving the four-day reversal as a data point for traders to weigh against broader price action across both assets that week.
