Aave recorded 197,501 transactions through the WalletConnect network during the first half of 2026, reaching 14,655 unique wallets operating from 161 countries across 22 different chains.

The data shows consistent monthly activity of between 30,000 and 40,000 transactions, a notable level of resilience for a DeFi protocol like Aave, regardless of market conditions.

Stablecoins dominated the volume for the period, recording 52,996 transactions compared to 35,716 for non-stable assets, a ratio of approximately 60% to 40%. USDC appears in 28,620 transactions, followed by USDT with 17,127 and ETH with 15,995. This pattern points to a use case oriented toward stable capital movement, similar to that of a traditional savings account.

The geographic analysis reveals two clearly differentiated user profilesBrazil concentrates 35,950 transactions with just 1,569 wallets, representing approximately 23 operations per wallet, the highest index in the dataset. The United States, by contrast, leads in user base with 3,801 wallets, but records only 8 transactions per wallet on average. This contrast suggests intensive retail use in emerging markets versus more spaced-out participation in developed markets.

The Aave and WalletConnect report also analyzes this data within the context of the U.S. regulatory landscape, where the approval of the GENIUS Act in July 2025 established the first federal framework specifically for stablecoins, requiring 1:1 reserves and anti-money laundering controls. The CLARITY Act, still pending in the Senate, seeks to define the CFTC’s authority over digital asset markets and establish criteria for determining when a DeFi protocol can be considered genuinely decentralized.
