The feature allows guests to place orders up to three weeks before check-in. Orders of $10 or more come with no delivery fee. No separate Instacart account or app is required, and the listing address fills in automatically.

Airbnb said groceries have been one of its most-requested features. The rollout now covers the vast majority of eligible US stays.

Canada is next in line, with the service expected to launch there in the coming weeks. Instacart is already widely used in Canada, particularly around major holidays.

In Phoenix, Arizona, and Orlando, Florida, the partnership goes a step further. Hosts who opt in can receive grocery deliveries on behalf of guests and stock the fridge and pantry before check-in.

“We wanted groceries to feel like a natural part of a stay, not another errand,” said Juan David Borrero, Airbnb’s global head of partnerships and business development.

Ryan Hamburger, Chief Commercial Officer at Instacart, said the partnership “drives new demand for retail partners and makes it easier than ever for guests to get the groceries they need wherever they’re traveling.”

What Guests Are Actually Ordering

Airbnb and Instacart looked at what guests order most by destination, and the data paints a pretty clear picture of how people travel.

Beach towns lean into sunscreen. Guests in Madeira Beach, Florida order it about 4.5 times more than the national average. In the Smoky Mountains, it is sliced bacon and pancake syrup. Nashville guests order energy drinks at more than double the national rate.

Big Bear, California guests go heavy on s’mores ingredients: graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate candies are among the most distinctive orders in that mountain market.

Some of the bigger swings: Miami guests ordered bottled yerba mate at over 3,000% above the US national average. Los Angeles guests ordered oat milk at more than double the national rate. Austin guests bought navel oranges at 272% above average.

In Orlando, baby food purees were ordered at 188% above the national average, pointing to a strong family travel base in that market.

Canada Launch Details

Instacart is already a go-to service for many Canadians, especially around holidays. Around Easter, fresh-cut tulips are ordered 13 times above the Canadian yearly average. Ahead of Victoria Day, soil orders spike fivefold. Canadian flag orders jump more than 40 times around Canada Day.

Airbnb said the Canadian launch is coming in the coming weeks, with additional coverage continuing to grow over time.
