Algorand (ALGO)’s July 2026 Insights Report reveals declining TVL but growth in wallets and asset creation. Key focus on agentic commerce via x402 protocol.
Algorand (ALGO)’s July 2026 Algo Insights Report highlights a mixed performance for the blockchain’s ecosystem, with network usage and asset creation seeing growth, while liquidity metrics and stablecoin activity faced headwinds. The report also underscores the network’s continued focus on innovation, particularly in agentic commerce powered by its x402 protocol.
Key Metrics: Wallet and Asset Growth, Liquidity Pressure
Algorand recorded 522,000 monthly active wallets in July, up 1.2% month-over-month (MoM), and cumulative wallets grew to over 52 million. Transactions also increased slightly by 1.0%, reaching 3.67 billion. However, liquidity metrics painted a more challenging picture. Total value locked (TVL) in USD terms fell 7.2% MoM to $64 million, while stablecoin market capitalization dropped 10.2% to $44 million. Notably, USDC transaction volume decreased 25% MoM to $563 million, though utilization remained robust at 13x its market cap.
Builder Activity and Agentic Commerce
Builder activity was mixed, with new asset creation jumping 13.2% MoM to 217,000, while contract deployments fell 5.1% to 606,000. Notably, asset creation was highly decentralized, with over 92% of new assets distributed across smaller creators.
In the emerging field of agentic commerce, Algorand’s x402 protocol showed early traction. From July 27 to August 2, the network recorded $80.9K in agentic payment transfers, placing it behind Base but ahead of Polygon and Solana in this nascent category. This signals progress from developer experimentation to measurable usage.
Decentralization and Staking
The network’s decentralization efforts continued, with ALGO staking surpassing 2.07 billion tokens. The community controlled 81.1% of the stake, while the Algorand Foundation held 18.9%. Validators earned 6.74 million ALGO in staking rewards during July, contributing to a cumulative 2026 total of 46.89 million ALGO.
Trading Context
ALGO’s price saw a sharp 9.2% rise in the last 24 hours, trading at $0.093359 as of August 21, 2026. Its market capitalization is approximately $700.8 million. While the declining TVL and stablecoin metrics reflect broader liquidity challenges, the growth in wallets, transactions, and new assets suggests resilience in developer and user engagement. For traders, the increased staking activity and focus on agentic commerce could be longer-term value catalysts.
Forward-Looking Trends
Algorand’s continued investment in agentic commerce through x402 and its post-quantum security roadmap, targeting resilience by 2027, position the network for future innovation. The launch of the Global x402 Challenge and ongoing humanitarian payment initiatives further highlight its strategic priorities. With the blockchain now appearing on Token Terminal’s agentic payments dashboard, upcoming months may reveal whether this emerging use case can drive sustained on-chain activity.
