  • Volta’s $300 million funding round valued the young startup at $2.4 billion.

Anthropic has signed a six-year, $10 billion computing agreement with Nvidia-backed Volta Infra Holdings, according to media reports. The contract gives the Claude developer substantial new data center capacity in Norway. It also supports Anthropic’s response to growing demand for coding, research, and business tools.

Anthropic Secures Long-Term Capacity in Norway

Volta announced the contract Tuesday but did not identify its artificial intelligence customer. Media reports later identified Anthropic as the company behind the six-year agreement. Volta will deliver the computing capacity with Bitdeer Technologies Group at a large Norwegian site.

The facility will provide 133 megawatts for large computing workloads. Volta plans to equip the site with Nvidia’s next-generation Vera Rubin chips. the project will offer newer processors for demanding model training and commercial services at scale.

Volta CEO Ricard Boada declined to name the customer publicly. Representatives for Anthropic and Bitdeer also declined to comment on the reports. However, the disclosed terms match the developer’s broader infrastructure expansion across several providers.

Volta Builds a Major Nvidia-Backed Cloud Project

Former Brookfield Asset Management executives launched Volta in January. The startup leases computing capacity and helps customers finance expensive chip purchases. A recent $300 million funding round valued the young company at $2.4 billion.

The agreement gives Volta a major long-term customer only months after its launch. It also connects the startup with Bitdeer’s established data center operations. Bitdeer has started converting selected cryptocurrency sites in Texas, Tennessee, and Washington for artificial intelligence computing.

Bitcoin miners control large power supplies and facilities that can host dense computing equipment. Falling mining returns have encouraged several operators to seek other sources of revenue. Consequently, artificial intelligence companies can access ready infrastructure without building every large facility themselves.

Claude Maker Expands Computing Deals Across Providers

Anthropic has pursued several agreements to increase its available computing resources. The company has reached arrangements with SpaceX, Advanced Micro Devices, and Akamai Technologies. It has also discussed leasing additional capacity from data centers operated by Meta Platforms.

These agreements support Claude’s growth across consumer and business applications. Coding services remain a major source of demand for the company’s expanding products. Therefore, Anthropic needs reliable power, advanced chips, and wider data center access.

Anthropic reportedly raised $65 billion earlier this year for development and infrastructure spending. The company may also consider a public listing as soon as this year. The Volta deal shows how Anthropic is securing capacity before rising demand tightens available supply.
