Jim Cramer is telling investors to buy Apple stock. But not for the reason most people expect.
The CNBC host posted on X Wednesday that people should buy Apple because of the iPhone Duo. He called the foldable phone “amazing.” Cramer was clear that his buy call has nothing to do with Apple’s other big product coming later this month.

Apple stock closed up 1% during regular trading hours on Wednesday. Shares then ticked higher in after-hours trading, reaching $334.25, a gain of 0.37% according to Benzinga Pro.
The iPhone Duo carries a starting price of $1,999. Pre-orders open October 16, with the device hitting shelves in the US on October 23.
Cramer’s comments followed a report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman said Apple is preparing to launch a separate product on October 13. That device is a smart home hub with a built-in display.
What We Know About the Smart Home Device
The hub is reportedly code-named J490. It’s expected to have a roughly 6-inch square display.
The device will reportedly recognize users by voice. This would let it deliver personalized responses based on who is talking to it.
Apple is also planning updates to the HomePod mini and Apple TV. Both products are expected to get a refreshed Siri assistant as part of the rollout.
The HomePod mini will reportedly come in new colors, including green and pink. Cramer specifically said his buy recommendation is tied to the Duo, not this smart home push.
Apple has lagged behind Amazon.com and Alphabet’s Google in the smart home space for years. The October 13 event gives the company a chance to show it can compete.
It also lets Apple demonstrate progress on AI. The company has delayed its upgraded Siri assistant multiple times already.
Early Demand Signals for New Products
Counterpoint Research estimates Apple could sell about 6 million iPhone Duo units in 2026. That’s a notable volume for a device starting at nearly $2,000.
There are also early signs of strength elsewhere. First-week sales of the iPhone 18 Pro in China rose 12% year over year.
Apple captured 33% of smartphone sales in China during that measured period. Analysts say this suggests shoppers are willing to pay more for higher-end models.
Apple’s last reported quarterly EPS came in at $2.02. That beat the consensus estimate of $1.89.
Revenue for that quarter reached $109.42 billion, up 16.4% from the same period a year earlier. The company also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.27 per share, paid in August.
Not everything has been smooth for Apple recently. The company patched a zero-day vulnerability reportedly used in attacks targeting iPhone crypto wallets.
A UK class-action case over App Store marketplace restrictions was also allowed to proceed. Apple did not respond to a request for comment on Cramer’s remarks.
