What to know:

  • Bitcoin price is nearing the $74,255 resistance, where a breakout could restart the bullish trend.
  • BTC futures open interest reached a two-month high, reflecting higher trader activity and leverage.
  • Analysts warn that weak capital inflows could keep Bitcoin under pressure below key resistance.

Bitcoin (BTC) is testing a crucial resistance area as momentum weakens within its long-term market structure. Analysts say limited fresh buying and rising futures activity could trigger sharp volatility, with the next price move likely to determine whether the broader trend strengthens or remains under bearish pressure.

At the time of writing, BTC is trading at $64,413.84 with a 24-hour trading volume of $24.53 billion and a market capitalization of $1.29 trillion. Following the 1.56% gain over the last 24 hours, the Bitcoin price structure and futures growth point to a bullish reversal ahead.

Bitcoin Price Faces Critical $74K Resistance Test

According to the crypto analyst Crypto Patel, Bitcoin (BTC) continues to respect a long-term high-timeframe fractal structure that has guided previous market cycles.

Historically, every breakout has been followed by a retest before the price reverts back into the prevailing trend. With momentum now fading after the latest breakout, analysts warn that losing the rising diagonal support could send BTC toward the next major demand zone.

Analysts have also observed that there is a lack of fresh money as the existing funds are moving around in the cryptocurrency market but not creating any fresh buying.

The biggest resistance lies at $74,255, which is tagged as a bearish order block. As long as Bitcoin does not manage to move above this price level, the bias will remain bearish.

Bitcoin Open Interest Hits 2-Month High

However, Crypto Patel further pointed out that open interest for Bitcoin futures has reached a record high in two months, mainly because of Binance owing to increased leveraged trades.

Increased open interest shows that fresh money is entering the derivatives space as well as increased trading activity. But an increased open interest does not mean that there will be a bull run.

As leverage increases, there is an increased probability of seeing sudden moves from the cryptocurrency market, and that makes the move to come next very important.

A break above the resistance level will result in an increase of short liquidations and will see a bullish surge in prices, while a fall will lead to long liquidations.

What Happens Next?

The future of Bitcoin is contingent on breaking back above the resistance level of $74,255 with significant volumes of buying interest.

A successful breakout would see Bitcoin embarking on another move upwards under short squeeze influence, while failure to break higher would push Bitcoin lower towards key support levels.
