Bitcoin price action stays solid above important technical support levels as institutional accumulation keeps drawing market attention. Strive’s most recent purchase of 2,000 BTC offers yet another sign of sustained demand, with Bitcoin trading near the $86,000 mark.

As of press time, Bitcoin is trading at $85,668.01, a 1.00% drop over the last 24 hours. Even with the daily decline, BTC remains well above the $68,430 and $62,979 support levels visible on the daily chart.

Bitcoin Price Remains Above Key Support Levels

According to Lookonchain data, Strive acquired another 2,000 BTC for $168.84 million, at an average price of $84,422. Lookonchain stated, “Strive bought another 2,000 $BTC ($168.84M),” with the purchase bringing Strive’s total Bitcoin holdings to 29,462 BTC.

The latest buy stands out because Bitcoin is currently trading above the average acquisition price of that transaction. This may keep the $84,000 zone relevant as a short-term reference point while traders gauge whether BTC can sustain its recent recovery.

On the daily TradingView chart, Bitcoin stays considerably above the marked support levels of $68,430.33 and $62,979.67. The broader price structure thus remains constructive despite the latest pullback.

Why Is Bitcoin Price Momentum Weakening?

Bitcoin recently approached the $88,000 area before retreating toward the mid-$85,000 range. The current price action indicates that buyers are still active, though momentum has faded from the recent advance.

The RSI is at 64.08, with its moving average at 64.67. This points to positive momentum without pushing Bitcoin into traditionally overbought territory.

The RSI thus leaves room for further upside should buying pressure return. Meanwhile, traders may watch whether the indicator keeps weakening alongside price.

What Does the Bitcoin Price MACD Indicate?

The MACD is giving a signal that is more cautious in nature. At present, the MACD value sits near 1,984.30, versus a signal value of 2,060.55, with the histogram at -76.26.

Such a setup suggests that short-term momentum has lost strength. Bitcoin may still hold its broader upward structure, yet a more forceful push toward $88,000 would probably need the MACD histogram to turn positive again.

If the MACD histogram keeps falling, the odds of additional consolidation before another breakout attempt could rise.

What Impact Does Bitcoin Open Interest Have on Price?

According to CoinGlass data, Bitcoin open interest stands at about $55 billion. Open interest has stayed elevated following a sharp September rise, when it climbed to roughly $62 billion.

This elevated reading points to ongoing participation in Bitcoin derivatives markets. Shifts in open interest together with price could thus offer further clues about whether traders are positioning for another push higher or bracing for more volatility.

Trading volume has likewise recorded several notable spikes in the recent period, implying that market participation can grow considerably around major price moves.

How Does Bitcoin’s Price Behavior Compare With DeFi Growth?

According to DeFiLlama, Bitcoin’s TVL climbed from about $3.6 billion to roughly $4.5 billion, accompanied by periods of increased network activity.

This increase in TVL offers further on-chain context for Bitcoin’s recent rebound, indicating that activity in its DeFi ecosystem has remained solid. Although this does not directly confirm further price gains, it provides another encouraging signal alongside Bitcoin’s technical and derivatives metrics.

Can Bitcoin Price Break Above $88,000?

The $88,000 zone remains a key near-term level, since Bitcoin approached it not long ago. A sustained move past this area would reinforce the bullish case and might indicate that the present consolidation is turning into another upward leg.

Conversely, if the recent high is not reclaimed while MACD momentum stays weak, Bitcoin could remain range-bound. The $84,000 area also matters, given Strive’s latest average purchase price and Bitcoin’s current position.

On the whole, Bitcoin’s broader technical structure stays positive as long as price holds above major support levels. Strive’s newest 2,000-BTC purchase supplies an institutional accumulation catalyst, yet traders still require confirmation from momentum and price action before they treat the $88,000 level as a confirmed breakout.

Cryptocurrency markets stay highly volatile, so traders should watch price action, market sentiment, and upcoming catalysts before making any investment decisions.
