What to know:

  • Bitcoin is trading at $63,967, down 1.72%, while $63,800 remains the most critical support level.
  • Analyst Ali Martinez warned losing $63,800 support could send Bitcoin price toward $60,000, while holding targets $67,000.
  • Bitcoin Open Interest rose to $48.84 billion despite lower derivatives volume, signaling investors await stronger price confirmation.

Bitcoin price slipped during the past 24 hours, testing an important price level that market participants are closely watching. Although the activity on the derivatives market decreased in the short term, high Open Interest means that many investors expect Bitcoin to continue moving in one direction or another.

Currently, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading at $63,967, which is 1.72% lower than 24 hours ago. During the day, trading volume reached $33.36 billion, whereas Bitcoin price maintained a market capitalization of $1.28 trillion and a market dominance of 58.86%.

Bitcoin Price Tests Critical Support Around $63,800

As crypto analyst Ali Martinez mentioned, the price of Bitcoin faces a critical support level at $63,800. Holding this level will provide opportunities to recover to $67,000 within the following sessions.

However, according to the analyst, failing to defend this support level might lead to an increase in selling pressure. At the same time, the next important downside level for Bitcoin will be at $60,000.

Price levels of support and resistance become important for the market participants due to the fact that they influence decisions to buy or sell an asset. The price level of support is critical to hold to improve the probability of a positive market reaction.

Bitcoin Options Activity Continues Slowing

Bitcoin’s derivatives market presented mixed signals over the past 24 hours. In particular, trading volume decreased by 8.27% and reached $43.26 billion, whereas options volume decreased by 19.47% to $1.79 billion.

At the same time, Open Interest and Options Open Interest remain unchanged and were equal to $48.84 billion and $33.43 billion correspondingly. Many market participants expect the Bitcoin price to continue moving up or down instead of closing positions in case it reaches important levels.

Another closely watched indicator, the OI-Weighted Funding Rate, currently stands at 0.0064%, remaining slightly positive. The recent move from negative territory indicates that long positions have regained a small advantage, although the reading remains low enough to suggest leverage is still relatively balanced.

Why This Matters

Bitcoin remains the benchmark asset for the broader cryptocurrency market, meaning its price direction often influences Ethereum, altcoins, and overall investor confidence. A move above $67,000 could strengthen buying interest across digital assets, while a decline toward $60,000 may trigger broader market weakness.

The current derivatives data also shows that investors are waiting for confirmation rather than making aggressive bets. As long as Open Interest remains elevated and funding rates stay balanced, the market could experience increased volatility once Bitcoin price breaks above resistance or falls below support.

For now, the $63,800 level remains the most important price to watch. Whether Bitcoin successfully defends this support or slips below it may determine its short-term direction and shape sentiment across the cryptocurrency market in the days ahead.
