What to know:
- BitMart considers creditor distributions and a phased restart of its selected services.
- Trading is still scheduled to stop on Aug. 26 despite the proposed restructuring plan.
- White & Case will review all options before BitMart provides another update by Sept. 9.

BitMart is exploring a restructuring plan that may include creditor distributions and a phased restart of selected operations. The announcement came less than four weeks after the exchange revealed plans for a complete wind-down process.
The platform announced the review on Aug. 21 and appointed White & Case as restructuring counsel. It expects to release another update by Sept. 9, although no final agreement has been disclosed to customers so far.

How Could BitMart Restart Selected Services?
BitMart has not changed the initial date when the shutdown will take place. Spot, Futures, and all other services should be shut down by 01:00 UTC on August 26.
The entire platform is also expected to be shut down at 15:59 UTC on January 31, 2027. All the deadlines are valid unless otherwise specified by the company.
This update was the first time that BitMart referred to the concept of creditors regarding the shutdown of operations. However, it did not identify which customers or counterparties may fall within that category.
The proposed structure would combine debt payments and an orderly return of some services. The restart is conditional on passing legal, financial, operational, and regulatory tests.
White & Case will review available options with other advisers of the platform. Its appointment is not an indication of a bankruptcy application or other court-mandated restructuring process.
What Comes Next for BitMart Users and Creditors?
No verified bankruptcy petition, case number, or creditor claims portal had been published when the update appeared. Neither has BitMart specified the corporate entity and jurisdiction that would facilitate any distribution.
The company anticipates consulting with the community following the introduction of its plan for business resumption. No details on how customers would participate and whether the plan will require creditor approval are provided by the company.
Futures accounts have now switched to reduce-only status, and spot markets can no longer receive new orders. Registration and deposits for both cryptocurrencies and fiat started to close on July 26.
BitMart said that existing futures positions can be settled via mark price, index price, and other rules set forth by the platform following the trading halt. No separate terms were provided in the update.
Why Could BitMart Withdrawals Face Compliance Delays?
Customers were earlier advised to verify and withdraw by 05:00 UTC on August 26. Withdrawals will continue to be operational, although further compliance may delay withdrawal requests individually.
The compliance reviews include identity, sanctions, transaction history, and wallet. BitMart has not given the time frame in which the delayed withdrawals would be processed.
However, BitMart has not explained why some balances will require creditor distribution instead of normal withdrawal. The notice for July closure referred to operational issues, the market environment, and future plans.
That earlier notice did not describe any financial shortfall. Neither does the latest notice include any information regarding the payment schedule, value of claims, available resources, or withdrawal processing.
CoinGecko data shows that BMX is trading near $0.052 on Aug. 23. Despite a modest weekly recovery, the token remained about 70% below its level from one month earlier.
The customers are waiting for more information on the re-operations and relevant legal entities of the creditors, but the trading will stop two weeks prior to that. Up until Sept. 9, the restart and distribution measures remain possible elements rather than confirmed outcomes.
