U.S. Bitcoin ETFs ended a two-week outflow streak with a $301 million weekly inflow, but BlackRock’s IBIT supplied all of it while the other funds combined lost money.
Key Takeaways
▸Weekly net inflow: $301 million, Friday incomplete
▸IBIT took $665 million on Monday alone
▸All funds excluding IBIT lost $264.5 million
▸First positive week after two losing weeks
The figures come from Farside Investors’ daily flow data for October 19 to 23, checked on October 24.
Five sessions, one decisive day
| Session | All funds | IBIT | Other funds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mon, Oct 19 | +526.7 | +665.2 | −138.5 |
| Tue, Oct 20 | +23.2 | +29.9 | −6.7 |
| Wed, Oct 21 | +524.8 | +235.0 | +289.8 |
| Thu, Oct 22 | −635.6 | −254.1 | −381.5 |
| Fri, Oct 23 (incomplete) | −137.9 | −110.3 | −27.6 |
| Week | +301.2 | +565.7 | −264.5 |
Monday’s $526.7 million inflow was entirely IBIT’s doing. The fund took in $665.2 million while Fidelity’s FBTC lost $83.6 million and Grayscale’s GBTC lost $54.9 million. Wednesday was the only day when most funds bought: seven took in money, led by IBIT’s $235.0 million and FBTC’s $212.7 million. Thursday’s $635.6 million outflow was also widespread, with five funds losing money and ARK’s ARKB alone shedding $109.4 million.
Over the week, the first three sessions added $1.07 billion and the last two removed $773.5 million, about 72% of it.
Without IBIT, the week was negative
IBIT’s net inflow of $565.7 million was larger than the market’s entire weekly gain. Elsewhere, FBTC lost $116.6 million over the five sessions and ARKB $99.6 million. IBIT also led Friday’s withdrawals with $110.3 million, though that was roughly 0.17% of the $65.88 billion in net assets BlackRock reported on October 23.
The result still ends a run of withdrawals. Farside’s data shows outflows of $678.9 million in the week of October 5 and $228.4 million in the week of October 12, so this week recovered about a third of that $907 million. Fund-level data does not show who was buying, only where the money landed, a pattern that has also shaped how Ethereum ETF totals should be read.
What an outflow does and doesn’t tell you
Flow figures track creations and redemptions: shares issued or retired by authorized participants, the firms that deal directly with each trust. Shares that simply change hands between investors on the exchange do not count.
Since the SEC allowed in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto ETPs in July 2025, those firms can take Bitcoin out of a trust instead of cash, and IBIT’s filing for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 records in-kind deliveries. Coins that leave a fund can be sold, held or hedged, and daily flow data does not say which. Thursday’s $635.6 million outflow was not necessarily $635.6 million of Bitcoin sold on the market.
The test for next week
VanEck’s Friday figure: the missing HODL entry will finalize the weekly total.
How many funds buy: inflows spread across funds, as on Wednesday, would point to wider demand than another week carried by IBIT.
FBTC’s direction: the second-largest fund by cumulative inflows lost money this week despite one strong session.
