Bradley Axen, head of AI capabilities at Block, noted in a statement that the market will require spaces where humans and machines collaborate, framing the decision around whether such infrastructure should be proprietary or open.

The platform’s agnostic design allows developers to deploy tools powered by various language models. Project details indicate direct compatibility with third-party systems as well as internally developed solutions previously released by the company.

The Nostr protocol as a technical foundation

To address the challenge of identity in multi-agent systems, Block built its new tool on top of the Nostr protocol. Every participant in the workspace network—whether a person or an automated process—maintains an exclusively owned cryptographic keypair.

This technical configuration prevents user control from residing on platform servers. The official repository details that the history and reputation of each AI agent can travel freely across any network compatible with Nostr standards.

Operation traceability is also managed individually. Every message, reaction, workflow step, review approval, and Git event is recorded as a signed event, generating an audit trail through a hash chain.

The operational debut of Buzz marks the continuation of the company’s open-development strategy, complementing the launch of Goose, the AI agent framework published by Block in January 2025.
