The company released its long-term market outlook ahead of the Farnborough International Airshow, projecting demand for 43,625 new commercial aircraft through 2045. Single-aisle jets lead the way, accounting for more than three-quarters of expected deliveries.

Boeing expects the global commercial fleet to grow nearly 80% to over 50,000 aircraft by 2045. Global passenger traffic is projected to grow around 4% annually, doubling over the period.

Low-cost carrier fleets are projected to grow nearly 4% annually through 2045, compared to roughly 3% for traditional network carriers. Boeing points to expanding route networks, with carriers adding nearly 5,500 new airport pairs since 2015.

Cargo is part of the picture too. Boeing forecasts air cargo traffic growing 3.7% annually through 2045, with demand for more than 2,900 new and converted freighters. Cross-border e-commerce and supply chain resilience are cited as key drivers.

Deliveries and FAA Progress

The FAA also reinstated Boeing’s authority to self-certify airworthiness for the 737 MAX and 787 — a key approval the company lost following the MAX crashes. Boeing is also reported to be nearing certification milestones for the 737 MAX 7 and MAX 10.

In Q1, Boeing reported EPS of -$0.20, beating the consensus estimate of -$0.68 by $0.48. Revenue came in at $22.22 billion, up 14% year-over-year and just above the $22.15 billion estimate.
