Brian Armstrong, the CEO and Co-founder of Coinbase, is one of many cryptocurrency founders seemingly bullish on AI Agents. In a recent post shared on X, Armstrong told his 3.2 million followers that AI agents are on their way to unseating many existing individuals in the coming years. The Coinbase founder also quizzed followers on when they expect an AI agent flippening.

“AI agents will outnumber people in the economy in the years to come. When do you predict the Agentic Finance flippening to happen? (Defined as agent-to-agent payment volume exceeds human-to-human volume).” Brian Armstrong wrote.

His assertion comes not long after Vitalik Buterin, the CEO of Ethereum, acknowledged the rise of AI agents and extensively detailed the solutions that the Ethereum network running as a neutral, permissionless, trustless system can provide for AI agents to carry out negotiations and settlements.

Other leading founders such as Circle’s Jeremy Allaire, Tron’s Justin Sun, Binance’s Changpeng Zhao, amongst others, have made largely positive declarations about AI agents, observing the increase in their adoption as well as their long-term potential especially in relation to the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

AI Agents intersect strongly with Crypto and Blockchains

According to reports from notable cryptocurrency research firms, AI agents strongly intersect with the Cryptocurrency and Blockchain ecosystem. In a report published by Galaxy Research, AI agents are expected to evolve into zero-human companies that earn, deploy and reinvest capital fully on-chain.

Per McKinsey’s report, AI agents could mediate $3-5 trillion in global consumer commerce by 2030, with the U.S. poised to host up to $1 trillion in B2C retail revenue in the same year.

Additionally, Franklin Templeton advises investors to hold the underlying crypto and altcoins of networks used by AI agents, as rising agent activity is poised to drive demand for those tokens.
