Cardano’s ADA token is in trouble. It just hit a <6-year low> and is trading around 21 cents. This drop comes after the project canceled its big yearly event and the whole crypto market turned sour.
What Caused the Latest Drop
The Cardano Foundation wanted to hold a big summit. They asked the community for 2 million dollars to fund it. But the vote failed because it did not reach the needed two-thirds support. As a result the event was canceled. This news hit the price hard and sent ADA down another 10 percent in one week.
Cardano is different from many other coins because the community votes on big decisions. When the vote went against the summit the foundation said they respect the outcome. Still the market did not like the result.
Broader Crypto Market Pain
Cardano is not alone. Bitcoin fell below 67,000 dollars. Ethereum dropped almost 10 percent. Other coins like XRP, BNB and Tron also lost value. The selling started after a big Bitcoin holder sold some coins to raise cash. This move made many traders nervous.
From Top 3 to 13th Place
Back in 2021 Cardano was the third biggest crypto by market size. Its total value reached over 91 billion dollars. Today the market cap is only about 7.7 billion dollars and it ranks 13th. Many big holders still control a large part of the supply. About 67 percent of all ADA sits with wallets that hold at least one million tokens.
Why Cardano Has Struggled
After the 2021 boom the coin faced more competition from bigger networks like Ethereum. A small recovery happened late last year when pro-crypto rules were discussed but the price could not hold. It peaked near 1.21 dollars in December and has been falling since.
The recent vote failure shows how community governance can slow down big plans. While this system gives power to holders it can also stop projects from moving fast when needed.
What Comes Next
Traders are watching to see if ADA can hold above 20 cents. If the wider market stays weak the coin may test even lower levels. At the same time the team continues to work on upgrades and new features. Only time will tell if the community can turn things around.
