Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has reignited his push for crypto exchange Gemini to finally list ADA.

Gemini co-founder Tyler Winklevoss recently marked the 11th anniversary of the exchange by sharing a company birthday message on X. And that’s when Charles Hoskinson jumped in to very simply say, “List ADA.”

Gemini’s ongoing snub to ADA

Despite significantly increasing the number of crypto assets it supports over the years, Cardano’s native crypto remains absent from the exchange.

Currently, Gemini supports native crypto assets like Solana (SOL), Avalanche (AVAX), Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), and Tezos (XTZ), among other major proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies. But no ADA.

Notably, there’s never been a public statement from Gemini specifically about ADA.

In its official listing policy, Gemini says it considers maturity, liquidity, market demand, utility, regulatory considerations, cybersecurity risks, and control concentration when evaluating assets for listing.

But that’s not enough for Cardano supporters who’ve often asked why one of the most established proof-of-stake crypto assets is still not on Gemini.

Charles Hoskinson’s years-long push

Hoskinson has had fun ribbing Gemini about this for years.

In December 2022, when Gemini was struggling with crypto lender Genesis, Hoskinson joked that not listing ADA seemed to be “pretty tightly correlated” to bankruptcy and reckless behavior. It came right after FTX went down without ever launching a spot market for ADA.

Then, later in the month, he made a bigger point about it during a Twitter Spaces chat.

“We are still not on Gemini. Turns out that’s probably a good thing because FTX didn’t list us either,” he joked.

Fast forward to September 2024, Hoskinson showed up next to Gemini’s booth. He was holding up a sign with “Wen ADA?” written in handwriting. And the caption to the X post was “I’m just saying… @Gemini.”

Later in 2025, Hoskinson really started to lay into Gemini. In an interview with Blockchain Daily, Hoskinson pointed out that Gemini is the last major crypto exchange that doesn’t trade ADA. Hoskinson estimated that Gemini probably missed out on about $70 million in revenue over five years because of the decision. He argued that rival exchanges like Binance and Coinbase were able to cash in on ADA trading.
