What to know:
- Circle launches native USDC on OKX X Layer for faster blockchain payments.
- X Layer integrates CCTP, enabling secure cross-chain USDC transfers across networks.
- Native USDC boosts DeFi, AI applications, and institutional adoption on X Layer.

Circle has launched native USDC and the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on OKX’s X Layer, bringing regulated stablecoin infrastructure to the EVM-compatible Layer-2 blockchain.
The integration gives developers, businesses, and more than 120 million OKX users access to USDC while enabling secure cross-chain transfers without third-party bridges.
The launch strengthens X Layer’s role in payments, decentralized finance (DeFi), AI-driven applications, and institutional blockchain solutions by providing trusted dollar-denominated liquidity.

Circle Brings Native USDC and CCTP to OKX X Layer
Before the launch, the layer’s supported bridged USDC versions, including USDC.e and USDC_Bridged, which originated from Ethereum but were not issued by the company.
These tokens enabled stablecoin transactions but lacked native features like direct redemption and the company infrastructure compatibility. Now, X Layer supports native USDC, offering fully reserved assets redeemable 1:1 for dollars.
The company has introduced its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) via the layer, providing for the native transfer of USDC tokens between over 25 blockchains that are currently supported.
Unlike typical bridges, the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol burns tokens from the source blockchain and creates an equal amount of USDC tokens on the destination blockchain.
Circle Expands Global Stablecoin Payment Adoption
USDC assets that are already bridged will continue to work and remain transparently identifiable as X Layer liquidity is gradually shifted to native USDC. For the OKX users, all deposit and withdrawal operations on X Layer will be automatically settled through native USDC.
The company continues to expand the reach of its stablecoins globally using the opportunity as a stepping stone.
Through Circle Mint France, the Stablecoin Payouts API has been launched, allowing fintechs, payments companies, and organizations to make automatic USDC and EURC payouts in more than 180 countries. The service includes compliance capabilities like mutual TLS and the Travel Rule to comply with MiCA regulations.
What Happens Next?
The partners will be promoting native USDC usage on the X Layer, encouraging applications to shift their liquidity away from USDC bridges.
With more DeFi protocols, payment systems, and corporations incorporating native USDC and CCTP technology into their operations, X Layer may attract more liquidity and participation by institutions.
The launch highlights how regulated stablecoins have become key pillars for the future of finance, bringing together traditional payment rail systems with blockchain finance and AI-based applications.
