Cloudflare introduces Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet system designed to facilitate automated payments between artificial intelligence agents and API or content providers. Through this development presented by the technology firm, AI tools will be able to execute native payments using stablecoin micropayments under the x402 protocol, overcoming the historical barrier of traditional payment methods designed exclusively for humans.

The infrastructure is split into primary wallets (Account Wallets) managed by users and virtual wallets (Virtual Wallets) for agents. The latter allow setting customized spending limits, allowlists, and automatic cost controls, ensuring that AI acquires services and performs inference within safe parameters. Additionally, the system introduces readable identifiers (cloudflare.pay), granting a persistent and traceable digital identity to bots operated by companies.
With this solution, Cloudflare advances in building an autonomous marketplace where software programs can explore, test, and interact with APIs without constant manual intervention. This decentralized ecosystem lays the foundation for the growth of agentic commerce, optimizing the direct monetization of digital resources through stable assets.
