Cloudflare launched Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet designed for artificial intelligence agents that aims to simplify the identification of those agents and facilitate payment for APIs and digital content through stablecoin micropayments. The cloud infrastructure company defined its product as a central piece of what it calls “agentic commerce“.
According to the announcement, users can already claim a handle immediately, although payment features will be enabled in a future update. The company plans to integrate the wallets with its recently announced Monetization Gateway, which uses Coinbase’s x402 protocol to process stablecoin micropayments.
Will Papper, software engineer at Cloudflare, explained in the blog that “stablecoin micropayments via x402 will make it possible to test an API without needing an account, allowing agents to explore new options with minimal friction”. Papper also noted that the wallets will allow users to store stablecoins and receive payments across different websites, thereby expanding the transactional capabilities of autonomous agents across various digital ecosystems.
