Why Coinbase Is Cutting cbETH Support

The exchange warned customers not to send cbETH to its addresses on Arbitrum, Optimism, or Polygon after support ends. It said funds sent through those networks may not be recoverable. Users must therefore select Ethereum or Base when transferring the token after August 17.

The network change follows other recent adjustments to Coinbase trading services. On August 5, the company announced the suspension of six non-USD trading pairs after a routine review. It assessed both market liquidity and trading activity before making the decision.

The affected pairs were LSETH-ETH, MINA-EUR, GRT-GBP, MASK-GBP, CHZ-USDT, and CRO-USDT. Trading was scheduled to end on August 6, 2026. The company said the removals formed part of its continuing effort to consolidate liquidity across the exchange.

The platform also suspended 25 perpetual futures contracts on its Advanced and International Exchange services. The company said the move would simplify its derivatives products. The stated purpose was to focus activity on contracts offering stronger liquidity and market quality.

What Deribit’s Dubai License Means

Deribit also received a broker-dealer license from Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority. Coinbase announced the approval on August 13. Deribit is a crypto options exchange owned by the company and operates a wider derivatives trading ecosystem.

Under the new arrangement, spot orders made through Deribit will be directed to Coinbase Exchange for execution. These would include buying, selling, and trading requests for the assets supported by the parent exchange.

The new structure allows the connection between the Deribit user interface and the centralized order book of the parent exchange.

Deribit customers will benefit from the liquidity and asset range available through the order book. The current Deribit user interface will remain available to customers.

Moreover, it allows the integration of the Deribit derivatives trading capabilities with the centralized spot markets of the group.

How UK Users Can Trade US Stocks

In another development, the firm started offering US stock trading to eligible customers in the UK on August 6. The platform offers access to almost 4,000 American equities. Customers can hold their US stocks using the same application as for cryptocurrency holdings.

The service does not incur any commission costs for 24 hours daily and five days weekly. The minimum amount of fractional shares will be £1, while customers can finance their positions using either pounds or USDC. The firm claims that it is the first crypto trading app in Britain offering US stocks.

Previously, the stock-related features were launched for US customers in 2026. They include zero commissions, fractional shares, and trading beyond the regular exchange hours.

Coinbase One members in the UK will receive unlimited rewards for funding eligible stock trades using USDC.
