Crypto markets are entering a data-heavy week as investors monitor the European Central Bank (ECB) rate decision, US economic indicators, inflation reports and major corporate earnings scheduled from July 20–24, 2026. 

While no crypto-specific events are on the calendar, traditional market signals could influence risk appetite and liquidity conditions affecting digital assets.

What economic events are crypto investors watching this week?

European Central Bank Rate Decision 

The European Central Bank (ECB) will announce its monetary policy decision on Thursday, July 23, at 13:45 CET, followed by a press conference from ECB President Christine Lagarde at 14:30 CET.

Markets will focus on whether the ECB signals further policy tightening after recent inflation pressures, with investors watching the outlook for interest rates, energy prices and wage growth in the eurozone.

US Economic Data

In the United States, several releases are scheduled through the week:

  • Conference Board Leading Economic Index: On July 20, the Conference Board will publish its Leading Economic Index for June, an indicator designed to track changes in economic activity. Investors will examine the data for signals about future growth trends and potential implications for monetary policy.
  • US Initial Jobless Claims: On Thursday, July 23, the US Department of Labor is scheduled to release weekly initial jobless claims data. Market expectations are for 212,000 new unemployment benefit applications, compared with 208,000 claims reported in the previous week.

Investors will get a fresh read on the US economy Friday, July 24, with new data on services activity, manufacturing and the housing market.

  • 9:45 AM ET: S&P Global’s preliminary July Services Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), which measures business activity in industries such as finance, retail, healthcare and hospitality, is expected to edge down to 51.1 from 51.2 in June.
  • 9:45 AM ET: At the same time, the Manufacturing PMI, which tracks activity across US factories, is forecast to rise to 54.4 from 53.9, signaling continued expansion in the industrial sector.
  • 10:00 AM ET: The Commerce Department will release June new home sales data. Economists expect sales to increase to an annualized rate of 600,000 units, up from 580,000 in May.

Inflation Data

The UK will release its June Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation report on Wednesday, July 22, at 7:00 a.m. UTC, providing an update on price pressures and the outlook for the Bank of England’s interest rate policy.

Japan will publish its June national CPI data on Friday, July 24, at 8:30 a.m. JST, with investors watching the report for signs of inflation trends and their potential impact on the Bank of Japan’s monetary policy.

Corporate Earnings

Several major US companies are reporting quarterly results this week, with investors in crypto markets paying close attention to Tesla, Alphabet and Intel due to their influence on technology and broader risk sentiment. 

Tesla and Alphabet report on Wednesday, July 22, while Intel reports on Thursday, July 23.
