Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao burned several memecoins sent to his public BNB Smart Chain wallet after the address accumulated more than 10,000 token entries.
Zhao transferred the tokens to an inaccessible burn address, permanently removing the balances from his wallet. He did not identify the projects included in the latest cleanup or disclose the combined value of the assets.
Projects have repeatedly sent large token allocations to Zhao without his involvement, using the visible balance in his wallet to imply support, reduce circulating supply or attract attention from BNB Chain traders.
Zhao told token creators to send assets directly to the burn address rather than routing them through his wallet. The latest action leaves no sale proceeds and gives the projects no direct transaction with Zhao beyond the original unsolicited transfer.
CZ Posts Continue To Drive BNB Chain Token Launches
Zhao’s social activity has become a recurring trigger for new BNB Chain memecoins. Token deployers have launched assets within minutes of posts from Zhao and Binance, while automated wallets compete for the earliest trades.
The pattern previously produced an instant wave of BSC meme deployments, including contracts built around phrases, images and replies that had no formal connection to Zhao.
Zhao has repeatedly rejected the idea that receiving or mentioning a token amounts to an endorsement. In January, he warned that buying memecoins created from his posts was “almost guaranteed” to lose money.
The latest cleanup follows renewed BNB Chain meme activity around CZ-themed tokens, where small liquidity pools and concentrated supply have produced sharp intraday moves.
Earlier Cleanup Removed Millions In Memecoins
Zhao burned several high-value tokens from the same wallet in March 2025, including TUT, BROCCOLI and related BNB Chain memecoins. The assets were valued at roughly $3.9 million when they were transferred to a burn address.
“There are a few new AI solutions to automate this, but they have not been security reviewed,” Zhao said during the earlier cleanup. “Will do the rest later.”
Zhao stepped down as Binance CEO in November 2023 but remains closely followed across the exchange and BNB Chain ecosystems. Binance processed a 2026-high $1.63 trillion in monthly futures volume in June as derivatives activity accelerated across its major markets.
The latest burn carried no disclosed dollar value, and Zhao did not name the tokens removed from the wallet.
