Dogecoin’s latest monthly candle has closed with a bullish inverted hammer pattern, emerging after an extended period of consolidation and weakness.
Technical analysts note that this formation can signal a potential shift in long-term momentum. Confirmation remains critical, however. Follow-through in subsequent monthly candles, supported by rising volume and a series of higher highs, will be required to validate the reversal structure.
The ambitious long-term upside target of $1 continues to be cited by some market observers. For now, the setup is in place, and further price action will determine whether the pattern develops into a sustained trend.
Dogecoin Remains Far From Its 2021 Peak Nearly 2,000 Days Later
Nearly 1,939 days have passed since Dogecoin reached its all-time high. On May 8, 2021, the cryptocurrency climbed to approximately $0.74, pushing its market capitalization above $82 billion.
The memecoin has since declined 80–90% from those levels and now carries a market value of roughly $15 billion. The prolonged gap from its record high has led some observers to question whether Dogecoin will return to those previous peaks.
Dogecoin faces mixed signals as whales take profits
Dogecoin is hovering near key support around $0.081 after sliding more than 12% last week.
On-chain data from Santiment shows larger whale wallets reducing their holdings following the recent price rally. Addresses holding between 1 million and 10 million DOGE, along with those holding 10 million to 100 million tokens, have collectively sold about 260 million DOGE since August 21.
In contrast, smaller whale wallets in the 100,000 to 1 million range added roughly 10 million tokens over the same period. Analysts view this as a classic distribution, with bigger players taking profits while smaller ones absorb some of the supply, raising near-term downside risks for the meme coin.
Derivatives markets still show mild underlying strength, but technical indicators point to fading bullish momentum, leaving Dogecoin’s short-term outlook uncertain. At report time, Dogecoin trades at $0.08 per coin.
