A young SpaceX fan designed a small plush Shiba Inu while battling osteosarcoma. Now it’s Space’s X mascot, and her final wish.

Liv Perrotto, a 15-year-old cancer patient from the US, passed away in early 2026 after a five-year battle with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer. Before her death, Perrotto compiled a handwritten list of eight questions she had hoped to ask SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

Those questions were shared by media entrepreneur Glenn Beck on X this week, and Musk said he would get back shortly.

On April 19, he replied to all eight questions, including Perrotto’s final wish to make Asteroid, a plush Shiba Inu she designed, the official mascot of SpaceX.

Her mother, Rebecca, wrote back that she wished Perrotto was there to see it.

The plush, which Perrotto designed at age 11, was selected as a zero-gravity indicator for SpaceX’s Polaris Dawn mission in September 2024. Proceeds from its merchandise go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Musk’s comments renewed buying interest in Asteroid-themed meme tokens.

A token with the same name saw its market capitalization climb from $17 million to $188 million shortly after his statement, according to data from GeckoTerminal.

The token’s market value stayed under $30,000 until Musk’s first comment on Beck’s post helped push it above $20 million earlier this week.

The rebound may benefit traders who positioned early, though some appear to have missed the move.

According to Lookonchain, 0x5811 spent $542 roughly 80 days earlier on 7.4 billion $ASTEROID tokens before exiting the position for $405 just ahead of the rally, locking in a $137 loss. The holding would now be worth over $2.6 million.
