TL;DR

  • ESMA added 12 firms to its MiCA register on July 31, raising the number of authorized crypto-asset service providers across Europe to 321.
  • New approvals included three German cooperative banks, two Spanish companies and four French firms, reflecting participation from both traditional and crypto-focused businesses.
  • The update also added three entities to the non-compliant register, now totaling 167, while e-money token issuers remained at 41 and ART issuers at zero.

Europe’s Markets in Crypto-Assets framework has added another 12 authorized firms, with ESMA publishing its fourth register update since the July 1 transitional deadline. The July 31 revision lifted the total number of approved crypto-asset service providers to 321. The register is expanding steadily, but each update also reveals how unevenly authorization is spreading across Europe’s financial sector. The latest additions include banks, payment companies and digital-asset specialists, suggesting MiCA is becoming an operating framework for both traditional institutions and crypto-native businesses rather than a compliance exercise confined to one industry sector alone.

National Approvals Expand While the Non-Compliant List Also Grows

Three German cooperative banks joined the authorized list: Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Oberbayern Südost, VR Bank Schleswig-Holstein Mitte and VR-Bank Landau-Mengkofen. Spain contributed Basque Pay and Fintech Payments, while France added Finary, Woorton, Blockchain Process Security and Shares Financial Assets. The mixture of regional banks and specialized financial firms shows that MiCA adoption is developing through several business models at once. That diversity is important because the register does not represent a single European licensing wave; it reflects national approvals being assembled into a common supervisory picture, with institutions entering at different speeds and from different starting points.

The same update also added three names to ESMA’s non-compliant entities register: Cervo Rendisco, Flandenzo and Corona Fondenza. Italy’s securities regulator, CONSOB, flagged all three, bringing the number of entries on that list to 167. MiCA’s public architecture is therefore growing in two directions, recording authorized providers while also identifying entities considered outside compliance. The contrast makes the register more than a directory of approved firms. It also functions as a warning mechanism, allowing users and institutions to distinguish between businesses that have secured authorization and companies specifically reported by national authorities for regulatory concerns.

Other MiCA-related categories remained unchanged in the July 31 publication. ESMA still listed 41 authorized issuers of e-money tokens, while the register contained no issuers of asset-referenced tokens. The absence of movement in those categories highlights a striking imbalance between service-provider approvals and token-issuer registrations.

Authorization growth is concentrated among companies offering crypto services rather than firms issuing regulated token structures. The fourth update since July 1 shows that implementation is continuing, yet the numbers also suggest Europe’s post-deadline landscape is still forming, with authorization, non-compliance and product issuance advancing at noticeably different speeds.
