Ethena USDe Launches Strong $5M Plan For X Layer Growth

Ethena USDe is live natively on X Layer, OKX’s Layer-2 network, accessible directly via OKX Wallet. The move replaces a minimal bridged presence with full native support, launching with an Aave v3 lending market and one-click USDe looping planned inside OKX Wallet next.

From Bridged to Native on X Layer

Until now, Ethena USDe’s footprint on X Layer was negligible. As of October 12, only 62.78 Ethena USDe existed via a LayerZero bridged version, limiting usage. Native issuance removes bridge dependency, enabling direct holding, transfers, and DeFi integration for Ethena USDe within OKX’s ecosystem.

The key entities are Ethena Labs, issuer of USDe; OKX and X Layer, built on Polygon’s CDK; and Aave, the leading spread out lending protocol. X Layer links OKX’s 50 million-plus reported users to on-chain apps through OKX Wallet as the default interface.

Aave v3 and the Promise of One-Click Looping

The first major integration is an Aave v3 market for lending and borrowing Ethena USDe on X Layer. Users can supply Ethena USDe as collateral or borrow Ethena USDe against other assets. The next step is one-click looping inside OKX Wallet. Looping involves repeatedly supplying Ethena USDe and borrowing to stack yield exposure, traditionally requiring multiple manual transactions.

Automating it into a single click in a mainstream wallet is a major UX upgrade, potentially expanding adoption from DeFi specialists to retail participants familiar with OKX products. Risk management remains central. The Aave governance assessment flagged that Ethena needs to provide $5 million in local DEX liquidity for liquidators before launch to ensure orderly liquidations.

On backing, Ethena reported 101.43% collateralization on October 12, with $4.83 billion backing against $4.76 billion USDe outstanding. For a synthetic dollar without fiat reserves, overcollateralization, and liquidity depth are closely watched by risk teams and institutions.

Implications for Stablecoins and Exchange Ecosystems

The deployment reflects three converging trends: growth of exchange-owned Layer-2s, expansion of yield-bearing stablecoins, and integration of CeFi distribution with DeFi infrastructure. X Layer reaches parity with Coinbase’s Base, Kraken’s Ink and other exchange-aligned chains competing for the next generation of users and developers.

For the USDe holder, a frictionless, low-fee destination for yield and leverage outside Ethereum mainnet. For the X Layer developer, a powerful new dollar primitive to support payments, DEXs, and yield products. For the exchanges, a compelling retention driver with native yield-bearing assets for users. For blockchain ecosystems, total value locked and activity. Synthetic dollars are still under regulatory review, with a focus on transparency and consumer protection.

Ethena’s derivative-centric model is distinct from fiat-backed stablecoins under evolving US and EU legislation, so continued disclosure will be required.

We look forward to completion of following milestones and execution: activation of the Aave v3 pool with $5M liquidity, Release of one-click looping feature in OKX Wallet, Rise in native supply to well beyond 62.78 tokens from the airdrop and if this traction continues, this could be the blueprint for USDe adoption on other exchange chains, building USDe into a composable variant of the dollar.
