What to know:

  • BitMine bought $81M ETH, its biggest weekly buy since July, as ETH jumped 30%.
  • Signals rising corporate treasury shift to Ethereum on ETF inflows and staking yields.
  • Trend of firms diversifying beyond Bitcoin; eyes on SEC staking decision and Fusaka upgrade.

BitMine Immersion Technologies has been able to rapidly increase their Ethereum holdings via a $81 million purchase. That’s their largest weekly ETH addition so far since early July which is a record on paper.

Coinciding with Ethereum’s impressive 30% increase in the last seven days, Chairman Tom Lee of BitMine hinted that the rally might indicate an institutional-level move toward ETH.

Institutional Conviction Behind The accumulation

BitMine, which is helmed by Tom Lee, Fundstrat’s co-founder, has positioned itself as one of the most aggressive corporate purchasers of Ether in 2025. Their newest ETH acquisition confirms a premeditated treasury approach that is similar to what MicroStrategy did with Bitcoin but focused on ETH.

Why Ethereum Exposure is important right now

Getting in on this investment opportunity means that there should be more corporate buy-in for Ethereum as more institutional appetite has been detected in the market which can be attributed to an increase of spot ETF inflows as well as a growth in the number of stablecoin transactions settling on blockchain platforms which has resulted in a surge in staking yields. .

Beyond Bitcoin Bet

This particular build up to an ether purchase reflects a larger movement of publicly traded companies that were initially committed to Bitcoin as their sole cryptocurrency exposure, have gradually been getting back into the market and diversifying their exposures.
