TLDR

  • Arthur Hayes bought 1,332.5 ETH for ~$2.53 million, adding to earlier July purchases totaling over 3,270 ETH worth ~$6.2 million
  • Hayes sold 6,000 ETH at a loss in June before reversing course and accumulating again in July
  • Ethereum’s staking ratio hit a record 33.9%, with ~40.9 million ETH locked in validators
  • Three new wallets pulled 30,000 ETH (~$58 million) from Coinbase Prime, with other large holders moving ETH off exchanges
  • ETH faces resistance at $1,963–$2,000, with analyst Ali Martinez noting a firm close above $2,000 could open the path to $2,060+

Arthur Hayes is buying Ethereum again. On-chain data from Lookonchain shows he added 1,332.5 ETH in a single transaction worth roughly $2.53 million, at an average entry price near $1,899.

That purchase followed two earlier July transactions. One involved about 646 ETH received after a USDC transfer with Galaxy Digital. Another was a buy of around 1,293 ETH for approximately $2.48 million.

Combined, Hayes has accumulated over 3,270 ETH in July. The total value at transaction prices sits near $6.2 million.

The move is a reversal from June. Hayes sold 6,000 ETH last month, recording an estimated $606,000 loss. He then stepped back in as Ethereum pulled back.

Analyst Daan Crypto Trades noted on X that ETH is attempting a breakout and closed above its Bull Market Support Band for the first time since late 2025. He said bulls need follow-through, and that a move above the 0.03 ETH/BTC ratio would signal a full breakout likely to continue.

Staking Supply Hits Record High

Token Terminal data shows Ethereum’s staking ratio reached a record 33.9% of circulating supply. That equals roughly 40.9 million ETH committed to validators.

More than 2.47 million ETH sits in the entry queue, with an estimated 43-day wait to enter staking. The exit queue is currently at zero. Staking APR stands at about 2.64%.

Staked ETH is not immediately available for spot trading unless through liquid staking tokens. A rising staking ratio, combined with declining exchange balances, can reduce the amount of ETH available to sellers.

Whale Activity Pulls ETH Off Exchanges

Large holders have also been moving ETH off exchanges. Three newly created wallets withdrew 30,000 ETH, worth close to $58 million, from Coinbase Prime. Other wallets moved large amounts from Binance and Gemini before staking them.

These transfers reduce the supply sitting on exchange order books, which can limit selling pressure during periods of stronger demand.

ETH Price and Key Levels

ETH is trading above $1,900, with a session range between roughly $1,852 and $1,950. Resistance sits between $1,963 and $2,000.

Analyst Ali Martinez said a firm daily close above $2,000 could open the $2,060 area, with stronger continuation possibly reaching the $2,150–$2,200 zone.

Support holds near $1,850–$1,870. A daily close below $1,850 could reopen the $1,700–$1,750 range.

Market data shows sizeable liquidation exposure above $1,968. A break above that level could force short sellers to close positions through market buys.

ETH is currently hovering just above $1,900 as the market tests whether buyers can push through the $2,000 resistance.
