Ethereum Foundation Adds Security Expert pcaversaccio to Board

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced the addition of pcaversaccio (“pc”), a prominent Ethereum security researcher and privacy advocate, to its board. This move underscores the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening privacy, security, and open-source principles within the Ethereum ecosystem.

Pcaversaccio, known for their extensive contributions to Ethereum’s technical landscape, has co-founded SEAL 911, an organization focused on security initiatives, and is an active member of the EF’s Silviculture Society. They are widely respected for authoring key works like The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto (2024) and Ethereum Privacy: The Road to Self-Sovereignty (2025), both of which highlight how Ethereum can align with cypherpunk ideals of privacy and decentralization.

The EF board, which also includes Aya Miyaguchi (President), Vitalik Buterin (Founder), and Patrick Storchenegger (Swiss counsel), plays a critical role in setting the Foundation’s long-term vision and ensuring alignment with its core values. Pcaversaccio joins for an initial one-year term on a voluntary basis, signaling a continued focus on privacy and governance-related challenges.

Ethereum’s governance and security issues remain front and center of community discussions. Pcaversaccio has been actively involved in reviewing and documenting Tornado Cash governance proposals over the past months, including Proposals 65, 66, and 67. Their work analyzing governance attack surfaces and improving cryptographic resilience positions them as a valuable addition to the EF board, especially as debates around on-chain governance and immutable code intensify.

The announcement comes as Ethereum (ETH) trades at $1,624.95, down 2.87% over the past 24 hours as of July 29, 2026. While market action remains subdued, the appointment of a figure like pcaversaccio could signal the EF’s proactive stance in addressing long-term challenges, such as security vulnerabilities and privacy concerns, which directly impact Ethereum’s credibility and adoption.

Pcaversaccio’s extensive background in smart contract security, including contributions like the creation of ‘snekmate’ and xdeployer, demonstrates a technical depth that could bolster Ethereum’s defenses against systemic threats. Their documented analyses of Tornado Cash proposals and commitment to minimizing governance risks align with the EF’s mandate to “protect the heart and soul” of Ethereum, as outlined in its 2026 vision statement.

For traders and long-term Ethereum supporters, this board update reinforces the Foundation’s strategic focus on Ethereum’s foundational principles. With privacy and security increasingly under scrutiny, pcaversaccio’s input is likely to influence key decisions on protocol development and ecosystem governance in the coming year.
