TL;DR
- Key Resistance: Filecoin is trading near $1.16 but remains below the critical $1.19 to $1.23 resistance zone that previously rejected rallies in January and May.
- Momentum Strength: Higher lows, an ascending channel, strong RSI readings, and price action above major moving averages indicate improving technical conditions.
- Support Watch: The $1.04 to $1.09 area is the most important nearby support. A break below that range could shift attention toward the $0.99 to $1.01 region.
Filecoin continued its recovery effort on October 6, trading near $1.16 and posting a gain of nearly 7% with the daily candle still open. Despite the advance, Filecoin remained below the September swing high of $1.22, keeping price action inside the same range that has limited recent breakout attempts. For Filecoin, the key focus remains the $1.19 to $1.23 zone, which previously acted as both support and resistance and now stands as the market’s most important near-term hurdle.
Resistance Zone Remains the Main Test
The $1.19 to $1.23 range carries significant technical importance. On the weekly chart, the area failed to hold as support earlier in the year. Price managed to reclaim it during the May rebound, but sellers quickly pushed the market back below the level. Now, Filecoin has returned to that region after recovering from months of lower prices. Buyers are attempting to prove that this zone can successfully transition from resistance into support.
Until that happens, the recent strength remains a recovery rally approaching a major obstacle rather than a confirmed breakout. For Filecoin, a weekly close above $1.23 would provide the first indication that market structure is changing. If buyers later defend that area during a retest, attention could shift toward the May wick region between $1.30 and $1.33. Beyond that, the larger resistance area near $1.65 to $1.70 would become a longer-term reference.
Filecoin Trend and Momentum Continue to Improve
Since reaching an August low near $0.6099, the token climbed through a sequence of higher lows, forming an ascending channel and eventually revisiting the September high. The moving averages show Filecoin trading above its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day simple moving averages.
The rising 50-day average suggests improving short-term conditions, although the longer-term trend still reflects earlier weakness. Momentum indicators also support the recovery. Daily RSI sits near 67.22, just below the commonly watched overbought threshold of 70. Filecoin still shows firm buying pressure, though the reaction near resistance may determine the next directional move.
Support Zone Could Decide the Next Move
For Filecoin, support between $1.04 and $1.09 now carries increased importance. This area combines the rising channel boundary, a Fibonacci retracement level, and the weekly 50-SMA, creating a strong cluster of technical support. If Filecoin loses that range, the rally’s structure would weaken considerably. In that scenario, the $0.99 to $1.01 region becomes the next area where buyers may need to re-enter the market.
Recent volume trends and improving weekly RSI readings suggest participation has increased during the recovery. However, the market still needs a decisive move above $1.23 before the latest advance can be viewed as a successful breakout rather than another rejection from resistance.
