Fluence Energy’s stock is trading at $9.05, down 54% year-to-date, after the company revealed a sweeping cut to its fiscal 2026 guidance driven by manufacturing problems at its Houston facility.

The company now expects revenue of approximately $2.4 billion for fiscal 2026, down from a prior target of $3.0 billion. That $600 million shortfall is largely tied to one location: its Houston plant.

Of that $600 million gap, $450 million is directly attributed to production delays at Houston. The facility was supposed to produce eleven units per day during the late summer ramp-up. Instead, it managed just one.

CEO Julian Nebreda admitted the company underestimated the operational complexity at the plant. Welding automation systems failed outright, forcing a shift to manual labor. Skilled worker shortages in final assembly added to the mess until three local subcontractors were brought in.

Output eventually improved to three units per day following corrective measures, but the damage was done.

The bottom-line impact hit $190 million. That breaks down to $130 million in combined penalties and delayed revenue pushed into fiscal 2027, plus $60 million in rollout and quality-standard costs.

Guidance Takes a Hit

Adjusted EBITDA guidance moved to a loss of approximately $200 million for fiscal 2026, compared to a prior midpoint loss of just $10 million. Two thirds of that additional loss is tied to missed project milestones.

The company’s gross profit margin sits at just 9.36%, reflecting how strained operations have become. Three analysts have revised earnings downward for the upcoming period, and no one expects profitability this year.

Fluence also indicated on a conference call that it is temporarily pulling back from U.S. business, a development Baird called a material negative.

Wall Street Reacts

Baird downgraded FLNC to Underperform from Neutral and slashed its price target to $3.00 from $10.00. The firm cited the guidance cut and the U.S. pullback as key concerns, pointing to the nearly 50% reduction implied for the fourth quarter alone.

Canaccord took a different view. It cut its price target to $15.00 from $24.00 but kept a Buy rating, arguing the stock looks undervalued at current levels.

BMO Capital lowered its target to $7.00 while holding a Market Perform rating. Morgan Stanley trimmed its target to $15.00 from $16.00, keeping an Equalweight rating and revising estimates in line with updated guidance.

UBS went the other direction, upgrading FLNC to Neutral from Sell. Analyst Jon Windham suggested the guidance cut may mark a low point for near-term earnings expectations, with potential growth ahead in fiscal 2027.

GLJ Research downgraded to Hold from Buy, flagging concerns about whether the company can convert its $6.4 billion backlog of contracted work into actual revenue.

Fluence currently holds $1.0 billion in customer cash already paid forward. The stock fell an additional 2.69% on the day to $9.05.
