Nebius Group (NBIS) shares rebounded 10.65% in pre-market trading to $164.00 after closing 12.65% lower at $148.22. The recovery followed its 2025 Sustainability Report covering energy, water, and community investments. The report detailed how Nebius plans to reduce infrastructure costs while expanding its global AI cloud network.
Nebius Improves Data Center Energy Efficiency
Nebius reported an average power usage effectiveness score of 1.25 across its 2025 data center portfolio. That result compared with a global industry average of 1.54, according to the company’s cited benchmark. A lower score means more electricity reaches computing equipment instead of supporting cooling and other facility operations.
The company said its server, rack, cooling, and cloud designs avoided 102 gigawatt-hours of electricity during 2025. Nebius estimated that amount matched the annual power use of about 9,800 American households. The company designs its infrastructure as one system to improve useful computing output from every energy unit.
Nebius expects total electricity demand to rise as it develops several gigawatts of computing capacity. However, its engineering strategy targets lower operating waste across both existing and planned facilities. This approach supports capacity growth while limiting the additional energy required for each unit of computing.
Cooling Systems Reduce Water Demand
Nebius also reported low water use at an owned facility equipped with closed-loop liquid cooling. The site recorded water usage efficiency of 0.018 liters per kilowatt-hour at the end of 2025. By comparison, the company cited a projected United States data center average between 0.45 and 0.49 liters.
Based on current designs, Nebius estimates each gigawatt of capacity could avoid 3.3 billion liters of water intake. That volume equals nearly 900 million United States gallons or about 1,300 Olympic swimming pools. The company plans to deploy similar air and liquid cooling systems across new locations.
Nebius also recovered waste heat from its data center in Mäntsälä, Finland, during the reporting year. The system supplied 19.5 gigawatt-hours of heat to the local district heating network in 2025. It also reduced heating costs for connected households by about 10%, according to company estimates.
Renewable Power and Community Investment Expand
Nebius sourced all electricity from renewable sources in Iceland, France, and the United Kingdom during 2025. It also moved its Finnish operations from 95% low-carbon power to fully renewable electricity. Meanwhile, the company continues to evaluate lower-emission power options for its United States facilities.
One option includes behind-the-meter fuel cells supplied through a partnership with Bloom Energy. Nebius also works with utilities before site selection and throughout data center construction. This process aligns new computing facilities with available power systems and local infrastructure requirements.
Beyond energy projects, Nebius expects its United States expansion to create construction and permanent technology jobs. The company also supports STEM education, apprenticeships, workforce training, and first responders near operating sites. In 2025, Nebius Academy partnered with 16 universities, including Rowan University, to develop AI and cloud career pathways.
