Google announced on October 13, 2026 that Gemini 4 Argon is now available in the Gemini app for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, bringing frontier reasoning capabilities and improved coding performance to consumer users. The model, initially unveiled September 30, 2026, had previously been restricted to trusted cybersecurity defenders through the Fairwind Program.

According to Google’s blog post published October 13, 2026, Argon “answers questions more directly with less hedging, doesn’t repeat itself more than necessary, and skips clichés throughout the responses.” For longer tasks, the model shares progress updates more frequently. Google states the model delivers “major improvements in coding” and integrates Google Antigravity’s agentic coding interface directly in the Gemini macOS app.

Task Automation and App Integrations

The October 13 announcement describes a new toggle feature allowing users to switch from chat to tasks mode within the main chat window. Google states that in tasks mode, “Gemini can work for you even when you’re not at your computer, helping you get more done across your Google apps and more.” The post does not specify which Google apps are supported or provide technical details on how background task execution functions.

Google reports that Gemini now connects to more than 40 apps including Instacart, OpenTable, Adobe and Shopify, enabling workflows such as ordering groceries, booking restaurant reservations, and business design tasks. The announcement does not clarify whether all integrations are available across all devices, regions or subscription tiers.

Model Capabilities and Background

Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, 2026 as a frontier AI model designed for sustained reasoning and complex, multistep work in software engineering, finance, legal research and cybersecurity defense. According to Google’s September 30 blog post, the model features an output limit of 1 million tokens, increased from 64,000 in prior models. Google reports capabilities including debugging, codebase migration, chart analysis, long-video understanding, and autonomous discovery, validation and patching of software vulnerabilities. These performance claims originate from Google and have not been independently verified.

Google has documented demonstration workflows showing the model turning an unstructured project folder into a client proposal deck and integrating with Antigravity in the Gemini macOS app to combine images and measurements for 3D-printable design work. These are documented demonstrations rather than evidence that every integration is available to all users, devices or regions.

Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers can access Gemini 4 Argon starting October 13, 2026. The announcement does not provide pricing details or specify availability timelines for users in different geographic markets.
