The Ripple Executive, when quizzed about its growing list of partnerships, revealed that serving institutional investors has remained at the core of its value system.

“…everything we do at Ripple is built around serving institutions and building institutional-grade infrastructure to help move value. The internet of value is really our core mission and has been since day one.” McDonald asserted.

The stablecoins SVP outlined notable partnerships established between Ripple and other leading fintech giants thus far: Mastercard, JP Morgan, and Ondo Finance, among others. These partnerships, as he asserts, are designed to facilitate trade settlement on the XRP ledger.

Last week, Ripple partnered with leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 platform OKX to list its stablecoin RLUSD on the exchange platform to enable trade across 280+ spot pairs. The move is primed to strengthen visibility and widen adoption for the asset in the long-term.

McDonald, in the interview with Grayscale, disclosed that the partnership was also designed to facilitate spot and derivatives trading, collateral use, and myriad other trading-related activities.

Near-term goals for Ripple’s RLUSD

Launched in December of 2024, Ripple’s RLUSD has attained some notable milestones as momentum continues to soar. Notably, the stablecoin’s market cap has grown to $1.6 billion.

Speaking on the increased rate at which RLUSD is being utilized, McDonald emphasized that the firm’s primary focus is to make RLUSD available across multiple exchanges, directly resulting in increased support from market makers and key custodians.

He shared the next step for the stablecoin, stating that with availability and infrastructure in place, engineering long-term use cases is a top priority for the project.
