Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced a “great migration” of core discussions from X (formerly Twitter) to dedicated Discord channels.

Hoskinson aims to move daily governance, development, and ecosystem coordination to a more controlled environment. He wants to leave behind what he characterized as the “drama, lies, and endless rage” prevalent on X.

The Cardano founder is coordinating the move with EMURGO president Phillip Pon.

“Well-moderated” spaces

Of course, X will continue to serve as a broadcast tool for Hoskinson’s livestreams under the proposed plan.

The crypto mogul boasts a massive one-million-follower reach, so it would be highly surprising for him to simply abandon the platform.

However, for “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) sessions, the community will be required to transition to the new Cardano Discord or the existing Midnight Discord. This will supposedly create a more productive atmosphere. “We can have happy, positive, well-moderated channels and leave behind the drama, lies, endless rage, and embittered people for a place where real conversations and real progress can be made,” Hoskinson said.

The move arrives at a precarious time for Cardano. The ecosystem has been plagued by treasury funding debates, project closures (TapTools), and the recent cancellation of the Cardano 2026 Summit in Singapore.

ADA prices are also at an absolute rock bottom, currently hovering near five-year lows.

Hence, Hoskinson wants to shield the community from public “FUD” (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) and focus on development.

Community backlash

The announcement has not been met with jubilation among all Cardano holders. Many are questioning the “decentralized” nature of moving discussions behind moderated doors.

“Isolating Cardano from the greatest free speech platform in the world is f***ing stupid… this doesn’t inspire the least bit of confidence,” one user said. Others labeled the move a form of censorship: “well-moderated” is simply a euphemism for silencing dissent. “So the solution to governance issues, community division, and criticism is moving discussion from a public platform to a private moderated server?” one observer questioned. “That’s an interesting interpretation of decentralization.”

Some community members pointed out that the timing indicates a desperate attempt to shield leadership from valid criticism.
