Is Revolut Good for Crypto in 2026?

Revolut can be a convenient way to buy and hold cryptocurrency, particularly for beginners who already use the app for everyday banking. However, whether it is a good choice for long-term crypto holders depends on factors such as trading fees, available cryptocurrencies, external withdrawals, custody and the level of control you want over your assets.

For casual investors, Revolut combines crypto trading with an existing financial app, making it easy to buy, sell and manage crypto alongside fiat currencies. More experienced users may prefer a dedicated crypto exchange or self-custody wallet if they need advanced trading tools, lower trading costs or greater control over their assets.

Revolut Background

Nikolay Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko founded Revolut in 2015; Revolut is registered as Revolut Bank UAB in Vilnius, Lithuania.

Revolut is an all-in-one banking app featuring innovative financial products, including its famous Revolut card, accounts, and savings. Their crypto offering sits on top of this.

Revolut currently offers access to hundreds of cryptocurrencies, including major assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and Dogecoin. The exact selection available depends on the user’s market and can change over time.

The platform offers trading in crypto, stocks, and other investment products. Revolut currently serves 80+ million customers worldwide.

Revolut has five plans, each offering an increasing amount of benefits. The Basic plan is free to use. I will refer to the free plan throughout this article unless stated otherwise.

Is There Crypto in Revolut?

Among many other features, Revolut can buy and sell cryptocurrencies within its platform. There are over 100 different cryptos available.

It is worth noting that while the 100 on offer is only a tiny percentage of the over 9000 cryptos listed on the crypto data platform CoinMarketCap, it does feature all of the most well-known and larger cryptocurrencies available, like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Revolut Crypto Fees

  • Trading fees: 1.49% – Standard and Plus plans.
  • Trading fees: 0.99% – Premium, Metal, and Ultra plans.
  • Withdrawal Fees: Withdrawals to a separate crypto wallet will incur a network fee and a variable service fee.

Revolut Crypto Trading Fees

Revolut’s crypto trading fees start at 1.49% for Standard and Plus, 0.99% for Premium and Metal, and 0.49% for Ultra

The fee decreases as your rolling 30-day crypto trading volume increases, reaching 0.49%, 0.29%, and 0%, respectively, for volumes above €250,000.

The applicable tier is based on your plan and total crypto trading volume over the previous 30 days.

Revolut states that the pricing calculation is updated regularly, and some transactions — including crypto deposits and withdrawals and staking-related transactions — do not count towards the tiered trading-volume calculation.

Minimum fees and fair-usage fees may also apply depending on the transaction and plan.

Revolut Crypto Withdrawal Fees

External crypto withdrawals can involve a Revolut service fee as well as blockchain network costs.

The network fee varies according to the relevant blockchain and current network conditions.

Revolut’s service fee is the equivalent of £1 for XRP, XLM, DOT, SOL, AVAX, XTZ, ALGO and ADA, and £3 for other cryptocurrencies.

A variable blockchain network fee may also apply. Revolut displays the estimated total cost before confirmation and says customers will not be charged more than the amount shown at that stage

30-day trading volume Standard/Plus Premium/Metal Ultra
0–€10,000 1.49% 0.99% 0.49%
€10,000–€50,000 1.29% 0.79% 0.39%
€50,000–€100,000 1.09% 0.69% 0.29%
€100,000–€250,000 0.89% 0.49% 0.19%

Is It Safe to Buy Crypto From Revolut

Revolut is an established financial services company, but cryptoassets remain high-risk investments. Revolut warns that crypto can be highly volatile, with the possibility of losing the entire investment, and highlights risks including cyberattacks, financial crime, firm failure and staking-related losses.

Revolut provides security measures for its accounts and crypto services, but these cannot eliminate investment, custody or transaction risks. Users should protect their accounts, watch for phishing and carefully verify wallet addresses before sending crypto..

Do I Own Crypto on Revolut?

Revolut’s crypto service uses a custodial model. It does not currently issue individual cryptocurrency wallets; instead, purchased crypto is held in a pooled virtual currency account combining hot and cold wallets, while Revolut maintains an internal ledger reflecting the customer’s crypto exposure.

That distinction is important.

With self-custody, the user controls the private keys associated with the wallet. With a custodial service, the platform manages custody infrastructure while the customer accesses their assets through the platform.

Revolut’s help documentation states that it does not currently issue individual cryptocurrency wallets in the traditional sense.

For investors who simply want exposure to crypto, this may be convenient.

For holders who specifically want to control their own private keys, transferring supported assets to a self-custody wallet may be more appropriate.

How Does the Revolut Crypto Feature Work?

Buying crypto through Revolut is straightforward. The exact interface may vary depending on your app version and location, but the basic process is as follows:

Step 1: Download the Revolut app and sign up.

Search for the Revolut Mobile Finance app on the app store. Click download. Once it is installed, open the app and click Sign Up. Enter your phone number and enter the code you receive. You will then need to set up a PIN. After this, you must answer a few simple questions.

Step 2: Top up your account with fiat currency

To buy crypto on the platform, first, you must add fiat currency ($, £, € etc) to your account. From the home screen, click on “Add Money.” Select the bank transfer or bank card to add the money. Then, all you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions to add your account details.

Step 3: Buy your crypto

After you’ve added your fiat currency, the total amount will show on the app’s home screen. Now, it’s time to buy your crypto.

Click on “Crypto” from the menu. Click “Trade” from this page and choose whichever crypto you want to buy from the list. Click “+ Buy.” At this point, enter the amount you want to spend; the app will convert this to an amount of crypto and display any fees. Check this screen carefully. If all looks good, click “buy.”

Once the transaction is confirmed, the purchased cryptocurrency will appear in your crypto portfolio.

Crypto Alternatives to Revolut

If Revolut isn’t the platform for you, here are some other notable options.

#1: Swissborg

SwissBorg is a crypto-focused investment platform that offers portfolio management, crypto trading and other digital-asset services. Unlike Revolut, it focuses primarily on crypto rather than combining crypto with broader banking services.

SwissBorg is more than just a crypto exchange. It is a multi-functional crypto investing platform that provides users with everything they need to invest in digital assets and easily manage their portfolios.

Pros of using Swissborg

  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Lightning-fast fiat on and off-ramping (UK banks)
  • Strong community-centric ethos
  • Products not available anywhere else
  • Good customer support

Cons of using Swissborg

  • Higher loyalty tiers are unattainable for average users
  • Native BORG tokens must be locked for 1 year, earning no yield for higher-tier access.

Key Takeaways

Swissborg offers a wide range of crypto and is very easy to use. Unlike `Revolut, it isn’t an all-in-one financial app; it only focuses on crypto. If you are just looking for an app to invest in crypto, you can’t go far wrong with Swissborg.

Nexo is another top player in crypto, not just for its exchange but also for its lending and borrowing products. They have a significant following worldwide, particularly in Europe (and the UK).

Nexo has diverse financial products, including buying, lending, trading crypto, and accruing interest on investments. A standout feature is their Instant Crypto Credit Lines, enabling customers to secure loans against their crypto holdings, thus providing liquidity without the need to liquidate their cryptocurrencies.

Pros of using Nexo

  • Easy-to-navigate user interface (for web and mobile)
  • Wide range of simple features (great for new users)
  • Responsible team
  • Highly secure
  • Lower fees than most CeFi platforms

Cons of using Nexo

  • High NEXO token buy-in requirements to qualify for the highest loyalty levels

Key Takeaways

Nexo is another CeFi platform that is easy to use and has excellent customer support if needed. It has a wide selection of crypto, and its added borrowing feature is fantastic. After Swissborg, Nexo is the platform I’d use.

#3: eToro

eToro is a huge trading platform offering crypto, stocks, and commodities. Its strength comes from its position as a social trading platform; it’s large community of users who can learn from each other. It has an extensive library of academy articles, courses, and webinars to educate you on how best to buy and trade crypto.

Pros of using eToro

  • Vast range of investment options
  • Great Academy and education library
  • The social aspect and copy trading feature

Cons of using eToro

  • Higher than average withdrawal fees
  • Limited trading options for experienced investors

Key Takeaways

eToro is an excellent platform for those who want a dedicated investment platform and may wish to have broader options than just crypto. The social aspect of the platform is a big selling point. Overall, it is a great option for newer investors or those with experience.

Is Revolut Good for Crypto? The Verdict

Revolut is worth considering if you want a simple way to buy and manage cryptocurrency alongside your everyday finances. Its crypto service supports buying, selling, holding, depositing and withdrawing cryptoassets, and Revolut also offers features such as staking and transfers between Revolut users. Availability varies by country and product.

The main question for long-term holders is not simply whether Revolut lets you buy crypto, but how its fees, custody arrangements and withdrawal options compare with those of dedicated crypto platforms.

Revolut may suit you if you:

  • want a simple crypto buying experience;
  • already use Revolut for banking and payments;
  • want to manage fiat and crypto in one app;
  • make occasional rather than highly frequent trades.

A dedicated crypto exchange or self-custody setup may be more appropriate if you:

  • trade frequently;
  • need advanced order types and trading tools;
  • want maximum control over your crypto;
  • regularly move assets between external wallets and exchanges.

There is no single best platform for every crypto investor. The right choice depends on how you plan to buy, hold, trade and withdraw your assets.

On the Flipside

  • Revolut’s main advantage is convenience, but users who need more advanced crypto trading functionality may want to compare it with dedicated exchanges such as Binance, OKX, or Coinbase.

Why It Matters

Choosing a crypto platform is about more than the headline trading fee. Investors should also consider custody, withdrawal options, supported assets, security, network fees and the features they actually need.

Revolut can be convenient for buying and managing crypto, but understanding these differences is essential before deciding where to hold your assets.
