On Friday, October 16, 2026, En.Haberler.com reported that Istanbul police have detained three bodyguards linked to a foreign national wanted on an international red notice for cryptocurrency fraud, widening an investigation that began earlier this week.

The suspect, Richard James Schueler, known publicly as Richard Heart, was arrested with his wife, identified as A.K., in an operation on October 14. Officials say he is sought over alleged large-scale crypto fraud.

The Istanbul Police Department’s Intelligence Branch Directorate and Financial Crimes Combat Branch Directorate carried out the effort with support from Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MİT).

Investigators subsequently determined that three men who worked as the couple’s bodyguards had used 15 separate addresses across the Beşiktaş, Üsküdar and Sarıyer districts. Police detained all three in a follow-up operation.

Searches conducted at the addresses after both operations yielded $7.15 million in cash and 160,000 Turkish lira. Officers also confiscated numerous luxury watches, handbags and pieces of jewelry, along with six cold wallets, a type of offline cryptocurrency storage device.

Authorities also seized three handguns, four long-barreled rifles, seven magazines and 400 rounds of ammunition. Digital equipment recovered included 11 computer towers, 12 laptops, 19 external hard drives and 46 USB flash drives.

Police said processing of the five suspects at the station is continuing.
