The prediction markets operator Kalshi has entered into a long-term collaboration with Nasdaq, integrating the latter’s sophisticated market monitoring technology throughout its exchange infrastructure.

Announced on August 10, 2026, this arrangement provides Kalshi with access to surveillance capabilities comparable to those deployed at major global exchanges.

The Catalyst Behind This Partnership

Recent months have brought heightened attention from both legislative bodies and regulatory agencies toward Kalshi’s operations. Several prominent cases involving questionable trading practices have intensified regulatory focus on the platform.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission imposed a $35,000 penalty on former GOP Congressman George Santos in recent weeks for allegedly engaging in manipulative activities on Kalshi.

Additionally, a teleprompter technician working at the White House faces scrutiny for possible insider trading conducted through the platform. Kalshi proactively flagged questionable behavior in both instances to appropriate authorities.

The platform maintains strict prohibitions against market manipulation and trading on inside information. User verification procedures, including comprehensive background screenings, are mandatory before trading privileges are granted.

Implementation Details of the Surveillance System

The deployment of Nasdaq’s monitoring infrastructure will occur incrementally at Kalshi. This technology will complement the surveillance mechanisms already in place.

Built for continuous operation around the clock, the system will monitor activity across prediction markets and the platform’s expanding suite of perpetual derivative offerings.

A critical feature includes facilitating the transmission of trading information to the CFTC in compliance-ready formats. As a federally regulated entity under CFTC oversight, Kalshi must adhere to stringent data reporting requirements.

According to Max Crowley, who serves as vice president of business development at Kalshi, this collaboration equips the platform’s markets with surveillance data identical to that utilized by the world’s premier trading venues.

Tony Sio, Nasdaq’s head of regulatory strategy and innovation, noted that prediction markets represent one of finance’s most rapidly expanding sectors, requiring surveillance capabilities robust enough to match that growth trajectory.

Kalshi has simultaneously been expanding its in-house surveillance operations throughout the year. The Nasdaq collaboration layers enterprise-level technology onto these internal capabilities.

Nasdaq’s monitoring system ranks among the most extensively deployed worldwide. Its current client base encompasses over 50 trading venues and 20 regulatory agencies spanning international capital markets.

This alliance demonstrates the evolution of prediction markets toward mainstream financial status. Institutional participation has accelerated, and this agreement reflects the compliance infrastructure necessary to support that institutional interest.
