Litecoin has started its growth beyond its native blockchain with the launch of Coinbase’s wrapped Litecoin, cbLTC, on the Solana blockchain via Sunrise. The integration is being done through Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), which enables Solana users to use cbLTC from Coinbase.

The Chainlink team said that cbLTC is one of the Coinbase Wrapped Assets worth over $7 billion on CCIP, giving Litecoin another cross-chain application.

Why does this matter?

This launch will enable Litecoin to gain access to the Solana ecosystem, which has users who are able to engage with the wrapped tokens within various decentralized applications and liquidity platforms. Rather than using the native LTC on the Solana blockchain, they are now able to make use of cbLTC.

According to Coinbase, wrapped tokens are tokenized on a 1:1 basis with the underlying assets. The mechanism ensures that users have access to the specific features of the blockchain and retain exposure to the underlying crypto asset.

In the case of Litecoin, it brings additional uses to the platform aside from those already known for Litecoin. It would give more application areas in which Litecoin could be utilized.

The interoperability infrastructure behind the launch will be provided by Chainlink CCIP. This means that assets and cross-chain instructions can move from one compatible network to another, thus eliminating the necessity of creating a different infrastructure for every new blockchain network that Coinbase decides to integrate.

Consequently, the launch is not just another step of wrapping tokens, but it opens up Litecoin exposure in the Solana ecosystem.

Who does it affect?

The innovation impacts Litecoin holders, Solana users, and individuals involved in decentralized finance. For Litecoin holders, cbLCT allows another option for having Litecoin exposure on the Solana network.

This might become significant for individuals who would like to have access to Solana applications without giving up Litecoin exposure.

Other advantages that Solana users have are the opportunity to access another wrapped token based on a proven digital currency. But the true effect of this will depend on liquidity, integration of the protocol, and demand for cbLTC. This launch coincides with a period of revived market interest in Litecoin.

Litecoin ETF records $1.73 million inflow

The cross-chain project is also taking place amid increased activity in Litecoin investing funds. For instance, the Litecoin ETF by Canary Capital reported an inflow of $1.73 million on September 24. The inflow is an impressive activity level for the fund at a time when the price of Litecoin made a significant jump that day.

The stock closed at $17.40 after starting the session at $17.01, with a high of $18.45 for the day. Trading volume was above 407,000 shares. While this flow doesn’t prove that increased ETF demand led to the rise in the price of Litecoin, the timing adds further insight into the market situation.

What does the LTC price structure show?

The price of LTC is now in a recovery stage that is much stronger than what was previously experienced, as the asset had spent most of its earlier time below the current levels being tested.

From the market analysis, we see that Litecoin is currently being traded at about $72 to $73 on September 26. LTC had been traded near $71.95 on September 24, up from an initial level of about $61.78 on the previous day.

According to technical analysis by More Crypto Online, Litecoin is moving up from its June low as part of a wide-range move. Based on its triangle formation analysis, the June low could be viewed as the conclusion of wave C, with potential for a three-wave advance in wave D.

Additionally, the analysis highlights another critical constraint: An additional move will not necessarily mean a sustained uptrend. In such a case, the price of Litecoin may keep rising but within the broader range, and the upper boundary of the range may extend to $410.

This is relevant to the price analysis of LTC since a recovery in the short term and a trend in the long term are two separate technical occurrences. The latest break above $70 is an indicator of increased momentum; however, it will be critical to see how this asset maintains its higher support levels.

The immediate zone to focus on at the existing level is the high on September 24 at 74-75. The price did touch above the level of $74 on that day but quickly consolidated back to $72.

If the price continues to rise above that zone, then the reversal pattern will be maintained; otherwise, a move back to 60-62 will signal that the sellers are still present.

What happens next?

The next stage of Litecoin is highly dependent on the recent recovery’s ability to sustain itself above critical support levels while adoption through cross-chains continues.

The cbLTC launch on the Solana network provides Litecoin with yet another way to enter the world of decentralized applications and liquidation venues. In addition, Chainlink CCIP serves as the technological link for the asset across multiple networks.

On LTC price, the main point to keep an eye on will be whether the coin can keep up its recovery process and break above any resistance that stands in the way without dropping back below the newly achieved levels.

As things stand at the moment, Litecoin is combining the increased cross-chain access with more activity in the ETF space and rising momentum.
