The XRP cryptocurrency has finally made its official debut on X (formerly Twitter) under the coveted @XRP handle, drawing enthusiastic reactions from Ripple executives and the broader XRP community.
The account announced its arrival with a brief message: “hello, world. It’s about time.”
The long-awaited debut was quickly acknowledged by Ripple, which has been closely associated with the cryptocurrency since its early days.
“For over a decade, we’ve built on the XRP Ledger alongside thousands of others,” the blockchain company wrote on X.
“Good to see you here, @XRP,” Ripple added.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse also welcomed the account, making it clear that its arrival had been anticipated for quite some time.
“This one has been a long time coming… Welcome @XRP!” Garlinghouse wrote, accompanying his message with a short video.
At the time of the announcement, XRP was trading at approximately $1.30, having gained 2.11% over the preceding 24 hours.
XRP joins other major coins
Despite XRP’s long history as one of the cryptocurrency industry’s most recognizable digital assets, the dedicated @XRP account had not previously established an official presence of this kind on the platform.
According to its profile, the newly launched @XRP account is jointly managed by Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF).
“XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized blockchain built for payments,” the account’s description reads.
The profile also includes a disclaimer stating that its content does not constitute investment advice.
Despite joining X only earlier today, the account has already attracted 21,700 followers while following just 42 accounts. Its followers include Vijay Khanna and Ripple Stablecoin Tracker, among others.
With its debut, XRP joins other major cryptocurrencies that already have dedicated accounts on the social media platform.
Bitcoin’s @Bitcoin account, which joined in August 2011, has amassed millions of followers. Ethereum also maintains a dedicated @ethereum account, managed by the Ethereum Foundation, while Dogecoin has its own @dogecoin account, which dates back to December 2013.
