  • MANTRA Chain halted its network after detecting an exploit targeting an upstream dependency.
  • MANTRA plunged to a fresh all-time low of $0.004126 before it recovered somewhat.
  • The MANTRA network remains fully halted, with no confirmed restart timeline yet.

MANTRA Chain, a Layer 1 blockchain focused on real-world asset tokenization, halted its network on Thursday after detecting an exploit targeting an upstream dependency used by the chain.

What Happened

According to MANTRA, the team identified an attacker exploiting a vulnerability in third-party infrastructure the chain relies on and froze all endpoints, validators, and bridge operations as a precaution.

Deposits and withdrawals across affected exchanges are currently paused. MANTRA says it has identified the vulnerability and is preparing a patched release, but the network will not resume until the fix is verified and coordinated across its full validator set. No restart timeline has been given.

Price and Liquidity Impact

MANTRA fell from $0.005060 to a new all-time low of $0.004126. The token later recovered to roughly $0.0046 but remained down about 9% over 24 hours. Trading volume jumped nearly 600% to $24 million as the news spread.

With withdrawals paused on multiple venues, traders currently holding MANTRA face constrained exits, wider spreads, and the risk of price dislocation between exchanges once trading resumes.

A History of Volatility

This is not MANTRA’s first major setback. The token, originally launched as OM, collapsed roughly 90% within hours in April 2025, a crash the team attributed at the time to forced liquidations. OM was later redenominated 1:4 under the new MANTRA ticker.

Acquisition in Progress

Adding to the uncertainty, Inveniam Capital Partners, which invested $20 million in MANTRA last year, announced in June that it plans to acquire the project. That deal is expected to close in the third quarter, meaning the halt lands in the middle of an unresolved ownership transition.

What Comes Next

Whether this halt develops into a broader market shock will likely depend on how quickly the project discloses a verified root cause and how exchanges manage the reopening of withdrawals. Both remain unresolved as of publication.
