The toymaker announced on Tuesday that the Barbie Signature Marilyn Monroe Doll is now available to order on the Mattel Creations retail site and other major online retailers. The doll retails for $81.

Marilyn Monroe’s Estate Collaborated On The New Barbie Doll

The Barbie Signature Marilyn Monroe Doll was designed by Mattel doll designer Robert Best and Linda Kyaw in collaboration with The Estate of Marilyn Monroe, LLC. Diana Leto of Mattel designed the doll’s packaging.

The doll recreates Monroe’s look, including her flowing pink dress, opera gloves and famous “Monroe bob” hairdo while performing the song “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film classic Gentleman Prefer Blondes, directed by Howard Hawks.

“Undeniably the ‘It Girl’ of her era, this blonde bombshell had the winning blend of charisma, iconic style, and pure talent!” Mattel notes on the doll’s packaging. “This year, for what would have been her 100th birthday, we celebrate with a stunning homage to this queen of the screen, dressed to the nines in a gown inspired by an ultra-famous movie look.”

Barbie Signature Marilyn Monroe Doll marks the seventh Barbie doll designed after the legendary actress. Monroe died tragically on Aug. 5, 1962, in Los Angeles. She was 36.

Monroe isn’t the only legend getting the star treatment with a new Barbie doll. The late legendary singer Whitney Houston’s legacy was recently honored with the release of the Barbie Signature Whitney Houston Doll. The doll commemorates Houston’s look in her music video for her chart-topping hit “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)” from 1987.

Whitney Houston’s doll was created in collaboration with Pat Houston, the president of the foundation and executor of The Estate of Whitney E. Houston.

Marilyn Monroe would have turned 100 on June 1.
